I have been collecting parts slowly and with winter pretty much here, I figured this is as good a time as any to start a build thread.
I had been searching for a local RN hull to build for a while and could not find one in the 5 state area that was reasonably priced, a brand new Gen1.5 BOB came up for sale for about the same as I was going to pay for a RN hull and aftermarket hood so I scooped it up. I know this is the least desirable BOB to own but it does have the setback pump and wider rails and has never been on the water so I am rolling the dice.
The hull is black gel coat, one of the last gen1's to be built, probably end up spraying it black after I finish cleaning up the air bubbles in the gel. The only BOB I have ridden was a gen1 and I had no issue cruising around on it for the little amount of time I did ride. The hull seems relatively light, but a bit thin, I was considering reinforcing it prior to building but that would require either sanding through the gel on the outside or the coating on the inside so I am going to ride it for a season and repair/reinforce as necessary. It could totally blow to pieces in the first few rides, thus the name BOB-omb.
I picked up a really cheap B1 to scavenge parts from, this will supply most of my hardware, pump, midshaft housing, etc.
I have:
XM adjustable comp. length pole
Stock 144 pump w/ Solas concord 13/17 -3mm and stubby cone
Cold Fusion battery box
Cold Fusion steering
RRP riser bars w/ Blowsion throttle
Couch mounts
Type 4 dry pipe, high rev chamber
Rad Dudes exhaust hose
ADA head
Home ported 760 with 61x cases.
I still need to get:
Waterbox
Motivation
Pictures to come
