Blaster lost spark,any ideas?

heres a copy and paste from another forum, with where im at with it?

Hmm, elec taped boots and sprayed the crap out of all electronics and wires, with silicone....it rode fine intire time, maybe a tiny miss here and there, got home to flush ,it fired for just a second, never started, pulled plugs, has no fire, even with new plugs, think the coil completly failed? motor was still pretty hott, any ideas

hmm,Ill check that, but it fired for just a sec and didnt sound so hot, then lost fire,if the kill switch is stuck,it still will turn over ?

Depends on what went bad. If the killswitch portion of the start stop switch went bad, it will just crank with no spark. Unplug the start/stop connector with white and black wires...that's your kill switch/stop button connection. Sometimes this will short in the connector or the switch. Keep in mind you won't have a stop button to stop your ski if it does fire.....but you are just checking for spark.

thanks jerry, was thinking of trying this method first, just pull the plugs ground one and turn it over with that plug undone, hopfully i have spark, been in the counrty all weekend so havnt had time to mess with it yet

rock exactly the way to go

weird, seemed to have a tiny bit of spark, with or without the white plug unplugged, put plugs in tried to start,it fired for just a second never really started though.possible bad coil?

Well first off its a newer 760 oem coil I bought from magoo about 9 months ago,it is a weird newer style coil that has fiber silicone internals not actual wire, the coil was grounding out and had a small hole poked or burnt through in the first plug boot,I elec taped it and siliconed spayed it up, and it did fine till i got home and no spark?
Secondly when i test it,it only seems to have weak spark for a sec then no fire at all?Im checking it at night and i see nothing

butti, will be pulling the elec box when i get time to check on loose wiring and water, think it could be caused by water in the front cover?

opened up the elec box, looked good no water, the dales bad attitude cdi looked kinda weird on the back, like it got hot and melted in a little, never really looked at it close before though back when everything was WORKING

also everytime i test it for spark"days apart" it will produce spark for about 2 secs then disapear and never come back ODD

I am not sure what the proper value is for the 760 coil but you should be able to put an ohm meter between the plug caps and get a reading. The standard SJ coils read about 4500 ohms with non resistor caps, 14500 ohms with resistor caps. The primary side of the coil, orange / black wires should read nearly 0 ohms. Anyone with a shop manual on that coil could get you exact numbers. This will let you know if the coil is open or not. It will not be a good indicator of internal shorts or breakdown under high tension. You can also use the meter to check the stator pulse, charge, & lighting coils. Get someone at a Yamaha dealer to give you the resistance values for these items and have at it.

Find a stock CDI and try that if you can. Sounds suspicious about the melted look of your aftermarket CDI. Good luck

I would if these were regular wires, but they are silcone fiber internal wires, not strand wire like a normal 701 coil,I may try getting some msd boots and doing them anyway, but not if the coil is shot, both plugs are not firing, and the rear plug cap was fine before.think i need to get a meter on it,like keefer was saying,if anyone knows these values, post them up please
