Blaster 2 Mods

I race in the Sport Spec class and need some more power. It is all stock including the prop. I need some more speed both out of the hole and top speed, what to do what to do? Prop? What pitch, Pipe, intake grate, milled head? I dont want to get to crazy but willing to try some stuff out. Any suggestions would be awesome.

Get a B1, or your going to get smoked. I have a B2 and have raced it quite a few times. Mine is stock like yours, but a B1 with just a few mods will walk away from a B2 on the track with a semi skilled rider.
You have to do so much to a B2 to make it much faster.
Group K pretty much (Look on their website) said that adding a aftermarket pipe to a B2 is useless.
Good luck anyways.

B2 is also considered in the Runabout Class.

Problem with the B2 is its wet hull design. It is hard to get any major speed increase. Pipe and mods will help you get there quicker, just not much faster.

I raced last year against a skilled rider on a B1 and won twice, I also beat a Honda turbo. I really dont want to get rid of it, its the girls river toy when im not racing. Maybe ill just get a B1.

They put us in the same class due to lack of racers. In the IJSBA it was legal last year did I miss something? Did they change class rules for this year?

You raced in a combined class, but the scoring was done sperately as far as points being.

As for as the B2 Race classification, it has always been grouped with the runabout division. If the local promoter lets you race in Sport, then race in sport.

If your beating the B1's then why do you need more speed?

Beating a Honda turbo isnt much, Its like picking up the big chick in the corner at a bar.

BK is correct. The B2 is a runabout ski, the hull is too wide for sport. I did race mine in the 800 class for a while and Runabout.

I have raced my B2 in the sport class, only because it was the last race of the year and the other racers didnt care. Its for sure one of the funnest couches to ride.

When we kicked off Sport Spec in Lake Anna VA in '08 I was forced to race a totally stock '97 B2 in Sport Spec against the The Mac's. Only mod on that ski was a Protec ride plate. It's holeshot was total *ss compared to those Spec boats. Several of those B1's were a far cry from todays sport spec rules.

I placed 3rd in every Moto... Sure I am an experienced rider but I had to work my way up from 8th on every start....

If you would like to Mod your B2 Get a Riva, protec or Factory pipe for it. Install a Primer kit and remove the choke plates. Install a head and boost the compression. That will help it accelerate much stronger. It all depends on what your budget is? You can also pick up an MSD enhancer. Some 44mm Riva flame arrestor adaptors and FA's! I can help you out with jetting if you go that route. Thats how my B2 is setup right now.

I will be removing my 64x engine and installing my Mod 1100 raider engine this spring with many supporting Mods! Should be interesting. Will Holeshot nicely then.. lol

Good Luck man

Awesome I think i may do the pipe and the enhancer to start. Do you have a pipe on your B2? according to group k they say pipes for B2s are worthless?

Pipes for B2's aren't worthless! They increase your holeshot!!! I have a Protec pipe on my B2. I may sell it but not sure yet. Provides much better bottom end. As it says on the GroupK website its difficult to get a higher top speed with the design of the B2 hull. Its a wet hull aka to much of it is in the water creating drag!

You will notice gains all over just don't expect gains in speed. With my '97 B2 I have a slight advantage with the Trim... The Trim and protec extended ride plate gives me around 2 mph more then a '96. I also run a deep open intake grate. No toploader! Ski handles chop fine and with its agressive handling it takes bouy course turns @ WOT ;)

With my Mod 1100 engine with 44mm carbs & other supporting mods I hope to see top speeds of 57-58mph on the B2! At least thats what I have been reading.

As far as a head what would you suggest and what intake grate? I am going with a red pipe, primer kit, and flame arrestors to start.

I installed a Riva Tri Loader off my SJ years ago. Way to much drag and resistance. Put a Protec open 2 bar grate back on. With the 155mm pump you really dont need anything more than a 2 bar grate.

enhancer will not plug into the 760 elect

When you buy the enhancer there is an adaptor to wire it in. I have not personally done it myself but I know there is a simple way of doing. Just ask around. You can install an enhancer and if I'm wrong (which i doubt) you can send out your CDI and have Protec Mod it for you.

zim . the adaptor your thinking of is for the 61x/62t
the 64x is completely different, it has 1 big connector that unplugs all the wires from the cdi
it is also not bolted into the elect box but held in by a rubber grommet
the 64x elect box is also different than the 61x/62t

yes you can send the oem cdi to protec , i did mine
dont know if they still do it ,did mine few years back
