The CPI barmount switches that are characteristic of most handlebar mounted switches (I think ALL) suck. I used mine with no problems in brackish water, but in salt they die often, and the spring inside mien died and changed it from an on/off to a momentary. Something fabbed for the JSS switch (an aluminum plate or something) is your best bet I think. I'm gonna try that this summer

you can see here, i used a push/pull switch mounted through the top deck of my x-2. I bought it from a boat store, and seems to be lasting pretty well. I can easily tell if its on off visually, and just leave it running while in riding. I run a single attwood, but want to add another. Anotherr thing to remember....if you can, make a loop up with the bildge line so water wont siphon in.

Do you mean make a loop in the line, the route it up and out?

I ordered a bilge and bracket from atlantic motor sport. IT was only like 20 bucks for the bracket, I figured that make a nice clean install.

any old clear hose work for the bilge pump?

Go to Wal Mart and get proper bilge hose - it's very cheap. It has ribs to keep it from kinking and restricting the water flow, and collars the correct size for fitting on the pump and through hull fittings. Well worth getting.

Yes, you want to run two seperate lines.

I had a barmount switch for a while, then it went bad. I will probably pick up one of those rotary switches tho. Right now I have a male/female plug right by the batt that I hook up before heading out.

The Wallywold pump has a base piece that you can glue down and then snap the pump on that. The 3m stuff is not necessary, any epoxy should work. I would also get a piece of 80 grit sandpaper and rough up where the base will be glued down. Actually I would sand the bottom of the bracket as well.

I have run both Rule and Attwood pumps. I have found that if you leave the Rule pumps running constant, they burn up. Attwood also has a 3 year warranty!

I know this is an old thread... but she's back from the dead...

I wish I would have kept my receipts for my attwood purchases. I have burned two up this year. Probably just my luck, but I've burnt up less Rule's, but attwood's don't get air locked. I run a dash switch which I turn on before riding, and don't turn off until I'm done riding.
