Biggest Waves Since Hurricane Bill! 5-25&26-10

I figured I'd start this even though my cam died in the water 5/25. Might be something on the sd card, but I'll have to use another device to try it.

Truly, big waves. Not as clean as "Bill", but still a treat this time of year.

I know there were other cams out there, so PLEASE post what you've got!

Well, I opened my cam & red salt water poured out. Might have to get that 99.00 go-pro at cosco.
Here's the first of what I salvaged from the card.
It amazes me how the cam makes the waves look smaller! I know I was staring up at 10-11' faces from the trough.

Both days had some great surf, Wed morning was very nice. At least 10ft+ faces & clean in the early am before the wind screwed it up. Most of the time you spent running away from those monsters!!! I will see what PICS I got with my Go Pro, both me & chris tried picture mode. I also got some video from Tuesdays ride.

waves were pretty crappy, but we made the best of it.

the outside was really big... probably the biggest I have seen at Matanzas, but choppy as hell and pretty bad form.
found a nice spot on the inside that was still breaking about chest to head and rocked it there for most of the day

I hear ya man! We caught a Super big day here at Point Loma just 1 week after the Todos Santos trip (nacency vid on the home page) Surfline was calling it 2-1/2 to triple over head with 20' sets. Biggests surf I've ever ridden. When we were out there it looked like friggen buildings were chasing us! When we got home and viewed the footage it wasn't nearly as impressive as having those monsters actually bearing down on us! Any way I'm stoked for you guys, glad you caught a good day

I would disagree... some of those sets in the Point Loma footage looked HUGE...

i think that's why so many people give up on the go-pro helmet cams and so on, cause the vids just don't capture the experience at all...

there are very few that are good out there, because when people realize they have to edit it never gets done and the footage just sits there..

Editing Sucks, I would much rather snap pics with my D90.

EVERYONE SHOULD EDIT THIER FOOTAGE! I know it's a pain, but it's PAINFUL to watch unedited footage. The GoPro is not a good solution for filming others riding, the wide angle totally kills any concept of size. They should be used for getting perspective shots that wouldn't be possible with a conventional camera.

Or just cut out the good parts and send it to me for the X VIDEO PROJECT in the fall. I think helmet cam footage is best when mixed with a regular cam, but some places you can't use a regular cam from the beach. (Pt. Loma and Oceanside)

this Is what ive been saying forever,the gopro wideangle sucks azz for shooting anything other than 1st person,and thats lame quick.Its a shame they didnt make the new hd model in a 90 deg lens,the cam rocks in all other respects.I dont know what they are thinking with that lame 170 deg angle. I still like my sony 480p bullet cam footage 90 deg lens with a lanc control to edit as I shoot,makes the final edit a 15 min deal. I just dont like the wire from the helmet and the backpack it takes to work,So I gave up on it,IF someone came out with a quality all in one cam that had a wired lanc,90deg lens and rechargable lit ion battery it would sell like mad

friends dont let friends gopro....we need to be done with this worthless cam,the new tachyon micro has a 90 deg lens and great vid qual,for about the same price,all its missing is a waterproff rf remote,maybe next yrs model
