Big throw help.

My main problem is that the ski lands to fare in front of me and I rarely grab the nose. I kick the back end around with my foot on top of the tray wall and get good rotation. I am not going into these like a nose stab should I be? I am hitting my set up wave crest and nailing the throttle after the dip. I am getting good height and distance just can’t get the front of the ski it lands about two feet from me facing me.

I will have my peeps take a movie next time we are out or a series of pics.

I was thinking I needed to hold onto the ski a little longer so it doesn't get away. I need pics to show you.

I don't think the big throw will die off b/c there are many other variations of the trick. Never miss a trick b/c the more you learn the more you can apply to other tricks.

I started throwing some a couple weeks ago. I use my trim system as much as I can b/c I think it clean tricks like a big throw up quite a bit. If you approach a wave for the throw I pull the trim to get the nose up, turn the bars, hit the gas, kick the side of the tray with my foot and just throw the pole to spin the ski. That is the way I do it. You can throw a clean one w/o a wave as well and that is where I think the trim shines.

Found pics. I will post. I also use the trim to get the ski up.

Looks like you need to kick the ski out more with your foot. That should make the nose come down. The more you throw the more level the ski should get.

I like this trick and always have. I would like to follow this trick by quickly getting on front taking off and jumping back in the tray. But first I need to get the front of the ski in my hand.

Some excellent advise here...

As mentioned above use your trim (makes a huge difference) and blip as described to rock into the trough steering slightly right , drop into the trough and gun it full bore and crank the bars full left and throw the handle pole to the right - this gets a crazy amount of rotation! - kick with your right leg as you take off as well. The most common mistake is to kick before the back of the ski has completely left the water - doing this takes 80% of the rotation out of the trick.

The 'S' flick on take off adds most of the height.. a D cut in your plate + trim system like CATS will help too..

Here's some I was doing last year + Ant Burgess doing a big daddy throw (like a backflip with you next to the ski!)..

One thing I would say is they smash the ******** out of your ski when you start getting them high! - expect to see big stress cracks!

Try the Big Throw T-Bone. That is where you screw up, don't throw the ski hard enough and t-bone the ski when it hits the water  Or you can do the Big Throw Face Plant.............all are wonderful crowd pleasers :haha:

I dont really understand the throw either. Its not something that can be ridden out of. Looks like a botched trick :dunno:

Mark,

Just go bigger!

Maybe some velcro for your skirt so it doesn't fly up in your face. It must be hard to see where you are going, huh?

Yeah....I'm funny

J/K Mark... just be careful. This trick always seemed unneccesarily dangerous to me.

after you catch the nose, you can pull yourself up on the nose by using the handholds then flip yourself around to get into riding position again. you can even throw a fountain in there between the pulling up and the flipping around.
