just curious what combos everyone is running for their pumps with big HP like 150+

just wondering what you have and how ya like it and what HP you think your running and any experiences you have had in the past?
im looking for a good low end like everyone is but i know it changes a lot when add big HP
mag or not?
TBM or cone?
props?
veins?

thanks, Danny

I just had the problem, getting better but still working on it.

5mm ADA motor 850 cc, 86mm bore, 215 compression, enhancer Don't know what HP # but should be up there

Had a stock blueprinted pump with 13/16 concord 5mm setback, protec nozzle (with veins) bored to 85.5mm and a wetwolf cone. Ski had so much low end you couldn't even build a setup wake 30 MPH maybe top end everytime you touched the throttle the ski left the water Horrible ride,

Now everything is the same except I have a stock nozzle bored to 85mm and stock cone. Much better but it doesn't seem low enough for me. I will retry the wetwolf with this setup this wekend (hopefully if the flu don't keep me indoors)

The volume of the protec nozzle is huge compared to the stock nozzle. If you mesaure the bore depth (boring to 85mm) of the protec nozzle compared to a stock nozzle the protec is about 80mm deep and the stock nozzle is bored about 175mm. That is how much tighter the stock nozzle is compared to the protec. That is a huge volume increase.

I might also try a custom longer cone with the protec nozzle. When I get it all figured out someone will be selling a used TBM cone for me to try then... LOL

I've tried both pumps with both motors in different configurations/ nozzles/ props...

this is what I have settled on for now. I would really like to try a 144 MAG instead of the 140. since the 140 mag is so heavy. thats my biggest gripe about it, you can definitely feel the weight back there. But the hookup is unreal! I tried a non setback 140 before this and did not like it as much.

So the 140 mag is in my heavy SJ which is really best setup for surf (yes i know I'm far, far from surf) with the Able motor which has a stock ignition (also less hassle for surf)

The TBM is going in my light flatwater hull to save weight and the 8mm motor is total loss so i like to keep it out of the salt.

thats kinda my reasoning for now, but I'm always apt to switch it around and try different stuff.

Bottom line... 140 SB Mag hooks up better than the TBM, but at the cost of alot of weight in the ass-end.

Are the steps equal from stock setup, to TBM cone, to Mag pump. I don't know if my setup warrants the 5 bills for the cone and prop setup just yet or a TL setup. They cost about the same since you can't find the a TBM cone anywhere used and about the same with C hub props

And what about the derailing the reinforcement thingy
