I really figured it was an inside joke but from a cosmetic point of view, I think the diamonds running long looks better. I don't see one direction providing better traction over the other.
For what it's worth at this point, all my 25mm padding around the wells and eye were shaped and tapered by hand using 60-220 grit paper.

back on topic....I actually think it looks better with the diamonds like that, but I have heard that doing it that way makes it slippery....

I'm thinking of having a tighter fit to my holds where I need to kick in. good idea or bad?
the main reason for it is that I'd like to not shave more than half the thickness of the underpad in the hold.
