Best thing for cleaning parts?

Whats the best thing for cleaning parts? I got a good deal on a superjet hull and about three boxes of parts I really needed for my build. It looks like I'm gonna need to clean, buy new parts, or rebuild most. Some parts are in great shape. Gonna put a 701 in the ski so really I could sell my 650 engine parts I guess.

Holy $%&^#&#!!! Did that thing get hauled up from the bottom of the ocean? By the look of it I'd say you have a lot more replacing than cleaning to do. Throw the motor mounts away for starters: 2 are broken and the other 2 won't be far behind. That midshaft looks kinda skanky too - I'd be very worried about the bearings in there. The pump might be OK, but I suspect the wear ring is warped because of corrosion between it and the housing - does that prop spin in there? Can you see significant scuff marks on the inside of the wear ring? The prop should clean up OK though. It's hard (for me) to tell about the rest of the motor from the photos.

Looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you....

More....But yeah everything still spins its just all to hell. I think the prop, shaft are gonna be o.k. Also the rideplate little stuff like that.

You will not be able to use most parts from your pics most likely, but that donor ski will be great for all your bolts and other parts. Namely, gas tank, exhaust hose, steering cable, throttle cable, ss switch, electrical box?, bed plates, motor hardware, etc. Wait till the spring and sell off the 6m6 motor parts, etc. When I get back into town maybe I can stop by and give you a hand sorting thru all that stuff, and we can figure out what you need that I may have  -Kurt

I would think so, I have seen stuff worse than that on boats keep being rebuild and used again and again...

I see you took the picture over the kitchen sink, did you just put that in the dishwasher??? JK
