Surfriding Best rrp pole setup

WILKEY

SO FAR CHANGE SUCKS!!!!!!
I have always had a xmetal pole. I like it just tight enough to stay up on its own. Now I have rrp pole. I put the rrp bolt spacer in to try and do the same. Guess what the :):):) happen. Stripped the damn bolt..... Fml. So what's the best advice yall have. Pole spring maybe?

I tried to run the pole tight like you and it didn't work out for me...

Use a pole spring and the spring stiffener piece in the bracket as well.

Brian, when you install the pole and torque the nut it will pop at a certain point. Once it pops or makes that ear scratching noise once you cannot tighten it anymore. If you leave it this way and ride a few times I can promise you it will tighten up.

I think your rickter has the same mount as mine, I used ss bolt though. Tighten it up and nut the outside, and red it. Did you strip bolt or the mount?

Which bolt? I used the spacer, cast pole and aluminum bolt. Tightened the bolt with impact, then nut with impact. Both with red loctite. It's tight, stays up on its own and has been that way for almost two seasons.

Yea I striped the bolt. The mount is fine. I guess now I know I can't tighten to much.....

Addict it was the rrp bolt

I have that same thing, using the OEM SJ spring. its a lil pITa to put the spring on, but once you have it there, you wont need to tighten the pivot bolt so much to keep the pole from playing around.
Also did you have the bolt tighten up before you start tightening the nut? just guessing.. :)

I just the Spring with the spring tensioner as well. On my new rickter I just drilled through the hull rather than removing the whole pole brakcet the put the spring tensioner on, Taylor Curtis does it the same way.

Some say the OEM spring doens't give enough lift while the blowsion spring offers too much. You can bend you OEM spring about 15 degress one way to offer more lift, while bending the blowsion about 15 degrees to decrease tension.

I just used an OEM spring and bent it to lighten the pole up and give the pole more of a float effect while ridding. Good luck and sorry to hear about your stripped pole bolt.

i vote for the sping also...thats what im running on my rickter...i tried running the pole tight but after a while it hurt my back so i put the spring in it......
