Best Primer Kit?

I had one of the bulb type primers JSS sells and after a year it started flooding my engine during the summer :bs2: (supposedly the ball got rusty & didn't seal anymore), so I removed it. Now I need a primer for cold weather starting, but want to avoid the flooding this time.:banghead:

So who sells the best primer kit?

To be honest Bob this is something you will have to replace every few years .I've bought from a few different sources and they go bad after a few years .Just get a few spare plunger style ones to replace every 3-5 yrs or so.

The bulb ones are junk as you learned already:biggthumpup:

I spoke to JSS about the rusty check ball once, he said he was going to look in to a SS check ball. I don't know if he ever did or not. I would think that would fix it.

No that I think about it, I think he put in a SS check ball in mine when the rubber pump dome poped off.

Just thinking out loud here.....
Wouldn't you have to have water in your gas for it to let the ball rust? (Isn't is supposed to be sealed off from the outside. If that little check valve ball could rust from water, maybe the insides of your carbs are rusting also? Just an idea
Is your need/seat in good shape??

I have to use needle nose pliers to use my plunger style primer for that initial start of the day. It was a limiting rope victim. :skull2:

I would think oil residue in the gas would protect the ball...
