Really? I'm admittedly a noob, so I'm obviously not arguing, just discussing.

I thought that since the '08 was supposed to be 2" longer than the '96-'07's, that a D-cut ride plate would be even more effective in getting the nose up and out of the water. Opinions?

I also thought that the major difference in the '08 hull is the big tubbies on the side. I didn't know there were any hull features that negated the grate gains either.

Anybody more experienced then me want to comment?

it's not longer. the pump is set back 2" further back, built in tubbies and a narrower rear all add up to better grip. if you add a grippy intake grate like a worx 201 you'll have a hard time sliding out when you want to. A d-cut plate adds grip too.

d cutting my ride plate made the hull WAY looser...much easier to break look in the face of the wave

my ski carves more with a d cut. I broke my d cut stocker and put on a flush cut AM plate and it slid to much for me so I d cut it to help control the sliding.

I should be getting my intake grate from blowsion pretty soon.... I was going to go with thier jet dynamics intake but they were out of stock so I picked up a works maxiloader intake grate.

I'll keep everyone posted on how it turns out. My 08 superjet is all stock except for the grate.

I have ridden a few stand ups over the years, 800sxr, 550's and a 650sx. The first superjet I ever rode was my '08 and this thing is a bear to break loose, I can slide it at will now while cruising, but coming up to a wake, I can't get the rear to let loose. In the last month my girlfriend got an '03 and my friend a '96. I have only tried a few times on theirs to nose stab and it seems so easy and natural on the earlier models. I know they have the advantage of more throw in the steering, but what can I do to mine to break the rear free?

Cut the plate flush and 'D' cut it? I may try running without the grate, but it seems like it would have little effect...

nothing you do will make it break free like a pre 08 (or even close)..

I'm a noob, and I can lean a bit over the front of my completely stock '08 and get it to slide no problem. If I'm not trying to, I've never had it slide accidentally on me, but if I try, it's easy. I'm still not really convinced that any one method is better than another yet from this thread, but I'll keep doing research.

Ah. Not too much surf typically on Lake Erie, sorry.

I think the only way I'm going to figure out what to do with the rideplate is by riding a bunch of different skis with different configurations and just work it out.
