so what did all that?

peices of the bendix.

first the little spring that holds the weights comes out and starts bouncing around in there.this ski actually still started and ran like that.i thought the bendix was just sticking.eventually the ski lost spark.when i pulled the front cover this is what i found.two of the weights from inside the bendix were lodged between the flywheel and stator.although the stator looks like it was run over by a truck it still works!of course thats just dumb luck

long story short,i dont ignore bendix problems anymore.esp. if your running an expensive flywheel

good point... I will start by changing back to my big battery to see if it still happens... if it does, I will take the cover off and check for issues....

I forgot!
my buddies does the same thing. i thought it was what oshweeken said. he has used different batteries over the years but has not had a problem with it falling apart. it just misses maybe once every two rides. i had a bendix that would only engage the motor for about 1.89 seconds and then slip. it was like having a kickstart ski. i could alway get it to start but it just took a couple kicks to get it going. ran it for half a season before getting an oem. anything besides an oem is crap and will cost you money imo.

I am just hesitant because the bendix has less than 1 whole season on it... brand new oem from the factory... I am gonna switch over to the big battery, if it still does it I will take the cover off and inspect, clean and lube the bendix.... after that I think if nothing really seems wrong I will just run it and hope to get another couple seasons out of it with no issues...

I don't know if you mentioned that before but now I would say clearly it is a batt issue.

Brand new OEM bendix should not act up.

no problemo.... put the gigantic stock battery in and ran it for a couple hours today... never did it once... I am going out again tomorrow so I'll test a second time... if no problems then I will have to determine at that point if I wanna put the little battery back in....

One thing happened today though... I tried a barrel roll off a decent boat wake and did a giant inverted sub..... came down pretty hard, and the damn handle bar U-mount thing on the left side came off my xmetal bars... now it resides at the bottom of the lake along with the 2 screws that held it on....

Temp fix: using stock U-bracket with 2 longer bolts and nuts w/red loctite and some washers... it will work until I get a real replacement.... so at least I can ride tomorrow... I put red loctite on the screws on the bracket I still have just to make sure its not coming off....

not sure if I sheared those screws or if they just came loose from working themselves out...

Replace it, mine started doing the same thing...then its started slipping more and more....then the ski died when i was in the middle of the lake and bendix dead too...so I swim back and everything came apart in the bendix lucky i could save the flywheel and stator but its the beginning signal that the bendix will go and worst case it will not disengage then it runs the same speed *10 like your engine...good times...
