For it's not about speed so much as backup. I think my bilge pumps drain my ski quicker than the one way, but not if the fuze blows....

For a week now I've been trying to figure out a manual block off that I can actuate while riding. I'd really rather keep the one way closed off most of the time and open it only when needed.

Have you ever had a bilge pump fuse blow?

I've never popped a fuse yet but I've had switches go bad, lines pop off, pumps pop loose from the base...you get the idea, once again it's a preventable scenario. I still like a little backup just in case but I consider the stock siphon bilge my backup.

Here is a setup I used to run on my 300SX, I took it out when I moved the rear exhaust, if you could find a way to mount it inside the hull somewhere and still be able to actuate it from the outside that would be sweet, its called a waste gate valve.

My ideal dream setup would be dual bilge pumps and stock syphon bilge.

That's the exact setup I'm running in both my skis now with Dual 500 GPH bilges.

I currently have my 3 position switch wired so a turn either way turns both pumps on but I want to add Shifty's TL switch to my start/stop and then use the 3 position switch for MANUAL/OFF/AUTO function. Manual turns both pumps on and then when in Auto, both pumps will come on when you push the start button and shut off when you hit the stop. I don't think it gets any better than that.

This is pretty good info, the screen idea is great, especially for lost zip ties etc. The cable actuated idea has some merrit also. hmm..... I love my sucpper I just hate it if its upside down or setting in the water floating for a long time. I have never lost the ski because of it, but I have seen the down side of the scupper first hand.

I've been thinking a lot about a valve like that, and where I could put it which would be easy to actuate and which I can seal up. Right now I'm wondering whether I can put a ball valve with the twisty knob sticking into the pump cavity. You'd have to be in the water behind the ski to actuate it, but I seem to spend quite a bit of time there! Can't figure out if there is room for that in the pump cavity until I look at my ski in more detail.
