Looking back on it I would say just start doing nose stabs right off the bat then inverted nose stabs then huge inverted nose stabs then BR's and then back flips.

I still have not done a BR or a backflip but looking back I wish I would have just bought a properly equipped ski (like you did) and just started with the big crap. I would be that much better now.

Shoot for the moon.

I like this idea. Seems like you would progress much faster.:woot:

your not committing. Dont gott abe fast but atleast good and on plane.

BRAP and get the ski out of the water, not trying for hight just a skip, then brap when you hit water again. Lean a little bit forward, squat and look down the pole from behind the pole pad and extend the arms. It forces you to push the nose down a bit more with your hands too.

It's alot simplier once you do it, it becomes insanely easy and dont gotta think about it. Hop bounce and sink it

Oh, I think I'm committed it's just a lack of talent.

I gave it another few tries today and I think I got a bit carried away.
Busted up my Frankenstein pole pad in a few places.
Nothing that duct tape can't fix.

Theres no real talent to subs, its too easy. I did them on my first week without holds...not good ones but did them none the less.

You just havent found your spot. Once you figure out the little combo of putting your weight around you'll stick 'em everytime.

Subing

Well, I can't do a sub to save my life.
Every time I try I end up slapping the water but the nose stays dry.

hey i practiced subing for a whole week and got it down really well what i found out was as you bunny hop its more speed than exadurating the height (you kill your self pulling the nose up thinking your higher) but get good speed get a bunny hop in or too nothing to big then when you feel a good pop i built some kicker footwells on my 550 you can use hydroturf blocks and glue em on whatever you want. but i kick up on those to get the tail up and VERY IMPORTANT push down and FORWARD on your handle pole then hang on and hit the gass

BURRRRRAP take a drink pull out and let your bildges have a field day :Banane01:

There are several tricks that I don't know the name of so I will just describe them.

*The Jump SUB is a fun trick and is always a crowd pleaser. Hop the boat and just dive it underwater. Pull up with the tray and also push down on the handle pole to get the nose down. I find that pushing down is achually more effective to get you under at a nice angle.

*Power Slide Ride along about 1/2 throttle, turn the bars blip the gas then let off. When the ski starts turning throw all you weight and kick the tray, breaking the hull loose so the ski will just skip/slide sideways on the surface of the water. This is a trick that I will do over and over trying to get the slide longer and longer. Fun trick

*Hand stand Get on plane at about 1/2-3/4 throttle. Keep the ski from porposing, put the pole down and do a hand stand by placing your hands on the top of the tray area. When you get good at it when the ski slows down you can drop into a summersault and go into a hood ride. Or you can summersault onto the hood, then summersault again into the water, travel under the ski and return to the tray.

*Tail stall Low speed move. Stand in the tray, pull the bars, bring the nose up. Sometimes a little blip of gas will help the nose rise. Ideally you want the ski completly verticle. From there you can start a pretty good spin by turning the bars and giving it gas.......I think that move is called the Ski Dance (or soemthing like that)

*Ghost ride Mess a trick up and the ski takes off w/o you :haha:

*Turn SUB Similar to the power 360 but when the nose catches and you gas the boat try and keep the nose going down into the water. This will make the boat go down enough that you can tuck in a go under with the ski.

*Hood Transition Handlepole down, hold onto a handhold or rail, turn the bars and spin the ski under you. You will end up strattling the ski backwards on the hood.

*Log roll at 1/2 throttle do a 180, hold onto the bars and hop off the side of the ski. the goal is to roll the ski under water and then, BAM blip the gas and keep riding. Cool trick if you make it look seemless. Many variations out there. For instance you can do the same trick while riding on the hood.

*Hood ride Pretty much lay on the hood, assume the "frog position" :haha:, hit the gas with your right foot and take you hands off. Fun trick just watch where you are going

*Fish walk? pretty much spinning 360 in the tray, picking the pole back up and riding out.....kind of a dorky move but it is achually difficult b/c it is a little disorienting. You can also do this in combinations by doing a 180 w/ the ski or a power slide. That makes the trick look kind of cool b/c it is a combo.

*Tail stall spin Go into a tail stall, get the ski verticle. Then you spin 360 and try and catch the bars again. Anouther trick that sounds easy but is acually difficult. Fun to work on and I still have trouble completing that move. The spinning trick always mess with my head

One rider that I love watching is Marc Sicklering. He is like the king of combo tricks. Very technical rider!! Once you learn all these tricks start messhing them togather. That is 1/2 the fun with flatwater freestyle is the combos. For example the last trick I was working on was doing a jump sub then when the ski comes out of the water monkey jump over the front (PIA and I never was happy with how it turned out :haha:). I also like trim systems in flatwater, adds anouther element of control to the boat.

I forgot!
what about a rodeo? i think that was what it is called, its when your on the hood in the "frog position and push down on the nose of the ski with the left hand and kick the bars/throttle with the right foot, it kinda dives but then goes into a catwalk with a will spin and you stay on the hood in a spinning tailstand with one hand in the air like a rodeo freak, i can't do them but seen one done and its pretty impressive for gay hood tricks.
