300/440/550 Before I reinvent the prop...

I have a JS400 rotting in my back yard.

The driveline is complete but seized. Pole is ok, has hood, Bars don't turn very well (probably just the steering cable)

I have a complete 650SX... some aftermarket parts, with a 650 motor, single 44 SBN carb, I could run stock or westcoast pipe. Various aftermarket upgrades. Uses stock waterbox. The motor needs to be put together.

Tom has suggested to me that the 650SX sucks... and I'd be better off putting together the 400. I'm curious as to how it all goes together (I could figure it out but if someone who has done it could fill me in, that would be great). The idea is to have it running for as cheap as possible, and buying any replacement parts is already more than I want to spend. (how much of the 650 driveline can be used?)

The 650 is my spare boat... so I'm not willing to put any more money than I have to, but if for a small amount of money I could turn my spare boat into one I might actally want to ride ijnstead of my X2, that'd be great.

You'll need a bedplate for the 650 that bolts into the 400 mounts. Other than that, just bolt it all up.

Not sure if the pumps are the same or not

I don't have any 400 motor mounts. Can't I use the 650 mounts?

Anything else I'd need to get? I know I can reuse things like throttle cables. But how about steering cables? I'm going to run 650 electronics and just strap the box to something. What else? Can I use the drive shaft from the 650? The bearing housing? The quick steer steering and 0 degree bars?

Obviously, I need to get the pump pulled and inspect it. I'm sort of hoping I already own everthing else to do the job. I'll need a hood seal. I can probably BS the rest if that steering cable can be used.

use the 550 or 400 elect's it is way cleaner all you do is swap the regulator for the 650 and it all fit's in the 550 style box.
you will have to show some enthusiasm or don't attempt this swap lol

mounts are not the same. if i am correct, the 400, 440, 550 mounts are flat, while 650/750/800 are angled.
 
i have a js550 with an x2 650 in it. electrics workd easy. modifying the 550 bedplate and using the 550 coupler is best. i had no good 550 motormounts so used the 650 bed plate and made some brackets to attach it to the hull using the x2 coupler. i had to modify the way the battery sits in but it worked out nicely. now i just need to get it to run they way i want it to
