Kind of ironic that most of us love the sport so much that we work our butts off to promote the sport and take pains to give people a good impression of jetskiers and this dufus doesn't get it at all.
He's obviously unaware and uneducated about the problems facing jetskiers. He apparently is completely ignorant to the fact that there are actually several groups of people with a LOT of money behind them that are working very hard at getting our little boats banned from every US waterway forever!
So. Who is it that actually loves the sport more? NW Lover that takes the short view, live for the moment and forget the rest of the world's opinions. Or the people that are voicing their opinion against such irresponsible behavior, that work their butts off to promote the sport, to give jet skiers a better reputation, that actually send their own money to AWA to help them fight the groups that lobby for jet ski bans and 2 stroke motor bans, the people that take the long view and are trying to keep jet skis around for more than today or next week?
Who is it that really loves the sport - NW Lover or the adults that are jumping his butt for behavior that could cause loads of trouble for jet skiers in the long run?
I want to be able to jet ski until I'm old and grey (Oh, wait, I already am).
And by the way, I don't need to ruin other people's property to have fun. I'm good with a few waves and a few friends.
 Ah, jeeze, Nurse Ratchett, get a grip. Hey, if I had to live in Ohio, I'd be pissed off about everything, too, but that doesn't excuse your weak perspective.
First of all, you quote HST in your sig line- have you read anything he wrote? What do you think his take on this subject would be? Yahaha, that's the end of your argument, right there. Since this is the interwierd, though, let's continue on.
"Get your facts straight", "bad publicity" etc: Two smokes were kicked off Tahoe due to being gross polluters, not because some yahoos roosted through the marina stark bollocky nekkid, drunk, with the mayor's daughter face down on the hood... everyone who saw THAT enjoyed it. It's too bad the news missed it. Anyone who's been in a marina in Tahoe know that the fookin' boats leak more oil in the lake than a hundred skis would, but I digress, that's a different subject.
Let me spell it out for you: Anyone who sees some yahoos on the news roosting the skis somewhere they shouldn't be is going to laugh, and then wonder why they aren't that cool anymore. Your legislators are too busy making payoffs in dark alleys and trolling for hookers while mom is out scoring pills- they aren't watching the news, yo, and could care less about the lunatic fringe.
The only way this sport survives is if the beautiful people keep riding, and make everyone who sees us go 'round grin, and wish they were doing what we're doing. Keeping your ski waxed and looking pimp will cause more converts than we'd ever lose by turning some laps in the country club swimming pool, and laying down a fountain that knocks three attorney golfers on their asses.
The more you think about it, the more overt your jet ski peccadillos, the more outrageous your antics, the better it is for the sport. The viscosity of the perversity is propultional to the whangle of the danger! Borrow your woman's best dress and get crackin', mothers! We have work to do! Remember when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!?
You're actually wrong about Tahoe. It wasn't because of pollution or idiots, it was because the rich waterfront homeowners didn't want their 'view' and 'tranquility' messed up by the riffraff on their water scooters.
Certain Tahoe homeowners have serious clout and know all the right people, but the reason the ban came about was due to environmental issues- water clarity and pollution. The enviro-wackos considered it a great victory, oblivious to the damage that the regular boaters do to the lake.
Anyways, back to the subject at hand. Isolated incidents of renegade jet skiing aren't going to ruin the sport, as Odd Duck would have you believe. It's the dipdunks I see every time I go to Folsom, punk ass kids on ratty old skis, ignoring the 5 zones, and encroaching on other boater's personal space, not giving respectful room to fishermen, that give the bad impressions. These pukes aren't going to last long. We're already an endangered species, running around with your head held low and kissing everyone's ass isn't going to cut it, or make any difference, so solly. Let people have their fun.

i don't think that is true at all
there is fun and reckless that affects only you and then also fun and reckless that affects more than you
so would you say it's ok to drink and drive??
and yes i have done it ./ and im stupid for the times i have
I know it's dead wrong when im sober
if i had hit someone and killed them how funny is that?
there is better ways to deal withthe hard asses and d bags than ripping a ski through their back yard
you wanna do it right???? drive your car in circles around their house for five minutes during dinner and watch their faces as they look at you through the window. now that's fun
they aren't gonna ban driving, they may ban you from it , but then , that doesn't affect me so i don't care
once is a lark:biggrin: We're talking about a lark, a prank. If you can't see the difference, I'm not surprised. Love to talk about it more, have to go to a meeting. later
yeah its not exactly the smartest thing to do but its pretty hypocritical to say hes drawing bad attention to the sport when half of you ride illegally in surf, do any flatwater tricks where its considered reckless operation or even riding without a fire extinguisher or non USCG vest....
Breaking the law is breaking the law 90% of you do it on your ski
explain the illegal surf riding... I gotta hear this...
btw - super gay post

Oahu is a good example. Illegal to ride surf just about anywhere around the entire island, but I did it 4-5 times/week anyway. I also got 2 tickets to the tune of $200 each, but got lucky and had one dismissed and the other dropped to $50.
And flatwater stuff, all it takes is for the officer to see you do a trick and they can write you up for reckless operation such as intentionally causing the boat to lose contact with the water.
uhh its illegal here anywhere you do it..
I more talking about now, not 15 years ago
