Well I am almost over my sinus infection from the last time I was trying rolls (3 weeks ago:banghead:). My big nose is like a racing intake grate. Lake Erie went down 3 feet from all the water in my sinuses. Anybody tried tying their pole down to the hood????

BTW: I ordered some Nose Plugs until I finish the learning curve.:cool2:

Alright Darin, you're killilng yourself with that set-up wave. You NEED to set-up to the right. I know you said you can't do it, but you have to learn. Either that, or learn to roll to the left. Your boat can't drop into the nice curved trough, and power all the way up the wave. Plus, you can't pre-turn as far doing it the way your doing it now.

Form wise it is still a over rotated stab. You are leading the boat with your head and your body is untucked. Looks like you are leaning off to the side of the pole so the ski can't rotate around its own axis, which is why you riding out at a 90 degree angle from your original approach.

very good point, the croaching helps so much as the ski spins itself
the most difficult bit is changing your technique!!!! i found that very difficult

this seems to be a very common problem...

I see the problem....At the start of your roll attempts...your pole needs to be all the way down..ALL THE WAY....once you do that youll feel better about them....lower body postion equals a roll...This is what bogie told me and i had them soon there after

Dam, I love this thread. Makes me realize I'm not the only one with bad habits and commitment issues :sgrin:
Been doing inverted nose stabs all summer and am having a hard time not going into that same routine every time I attempt a barrel roll. Want to raise the handlepole and stand up when I'm upside down. OUCH!
The few (two) times I have made it 3/4 around have been when I keep the pole on the hood and have my chest down close and over the handle pole. Also found that you need to be 100 % commited to "going for it" and really focus on what you want to happen. Otherwise ( at least in my case) It hurts a whole lot more.:headache:

as soon as you jump try and lower the pole to the hood while rotating and keep your legs bent and body forward.

But if you made your wave in the other direction it would help alot.

which is why I say just say no to nose stabs. stabs are not part of the progression to rolling. :icon16:

All things that have been discussed at length, and I've tried, but I'm so stuck in my ways I think the only option at this point is to start rotating to the left since I've never done that so no bad habits.

Try rolling to the left and shorten your limiting rope so your pole can only be lifted about 10” off the hood. Swivel your hips and bend at your waist not just your head I mean really lean over and take the weight off the ski. In your pic you are almost on the wrong side of the pole you have your head over to the side but not your body you have to get the weight off the ski.

If you ever go riding with the St. Louis crew I will have you rolling in 30 minutes I can see it is there just look at Wetbox with his stock SXR he was stabbing in 30 minutes and now he is rolling that big turd.

Darin, you and I have been fighting this issue for years.......... dont ask me how I finally overcame it but "Slam that damn pole down!!!!!!!!!!!".

Only problem I have now is I over rotate nose stabs now.....

Bad habits are in your mind......you control your mind....you can overcome bad habits.....just telling yourself and believeing in yourself is all it takes to overcome ANY habit....ITS YOUR MIND YOUR IN CONTROL....just keep telling yourself that.....than put your pole all the way down....tie it down if need be.....YouTube - West florida superjettin

these are tiny waves but you can see...... more in the last shot the pole is down
