backflip attempts

after watching our video and watching the ones of the lanier thread. We decided that we are going to fast. Most of our attempt are covering distance instead of shooting straight up. Its hard to put the boats any closer together they are about 10-12 ft apart. They are baja speedboats so they aren't designed to push a wake like the wake board boats

That was definitely a back flip in my books!
it looks like it because of the angle of the filming but Luke actually landed a couple of feet in front of the ski. If you look close you can see his legs flying. Skywalker was doing the best attempts and probably would have got one if his ski wouldn't have sunk

Yeah, that center wave is just not cresting. I'd say you guys just about have it. The double wakes I have seen you have to drop into them before you hit the center wave.

Ahh that makes a difference? Do you know the people who boats they are? If ya do play w/ the speed and trim might help out a little bit..

One of the boats is mine and the other is a real good friend. We've played with the trim and speed quite a bit. When we try again we're going to stick about 3 more people per boat and see if that helps.

watch lee stone/malone/lenzi vids of flatwater backflips.. you will see the brap-braaaaaaaap he's talking about.. right before you are about to hit your setup wake, give it a little brrap and lean back a little so your nose goes UP and then Down, at the point your nose is down, it should be right at the base of the setup wave .. thats when you Brraaaaaaaaaaaaaap it.

disclaimer: i'm no expert, but those are my observations..

this works well for about anything really, kinda sets ya up .

as long as you stay connected to the ski it doesnt hurt at all. Much less painful than a failed barrel roll attempt. It is very intimadating if you come unhooked from your ski and you look up to see it coming straight at you. Make sure to wear your helmet.
