Funny you mention i was thinking about getting a circus if I could find the right deal on one. But I wouldn't be getting rid of the badass. I love the way it rides wayyy too much haha
I'm in the same boat! I'd gladly grab a Circus if I found one local(ish) to me. I'd keep my Badass too, but I'd put a longer ride plate on i, extend the pole a bit, and run a smaller motor. It would be me cruise around ski.

About wrapped up for the trip with a few major takeaways.
Malone actually stopped out at the lake and barrel rolled the ski and stuck a flip, super super cool and I got to learn a bunch of freestyle history from a OG.
Fortunately for me when he landed the flip the rear end sunk on him as well so now I know 100% it needs a much longer ride plate. The foot holds are also god awful.
Other than that and a broken pickup wire it’s been running great for me, gobs of power.

Is it the footholds that are trash or the padding on the holds? Malone is a pretty cool dude. Met him at wavedaze several years ago. Still a badass rider
The turfing on them is awful, you just can’t stay in them. It was on my list and I didn’t get to it before this trip.
Yeah he’s a cool dude he lives like 30 from here.

Sadly though what I thought was just a broken pickup seems to be a brain on its way out
The spark tapers off to be weak under cranking load and when on the ski the first 2 seconds make power then it stumbles bad
Too lazy to replace the brain at the lake so I’ll have to fab it together at home later

very much considering hacking the rear end of the ski apart, insetting it, and making a full hull width ride plate to add length in all areas not just at the pump.
I think if I were to cut the section out and move it in a 1/8” length and width wise I could open the tray to refasten it from the inside leaving a inset so that I could flush mount a ride plate similar to that of what Tony does on his hulls.
Either that or just destroy my ski.

Im not knocking your ride plate idea but you just look like you had too much momentum on your flip and that ski rotates crazy fast. Is it possible you have too much trim throw? I just switched props yesterday and started landing more tail heavy so I'm dialing back trim throw.

Yeah on this one the rotation was too fast for sure
I’ve landed a few lazy big no trim flips totally flat and it still sinks real hard. Maybe it’s because I can’t stay in the foot holds I’m having a hard time recovering but I’d really like it to land with some more grace.

Yeah unless you lean way forward and gas out of it at the right time the short skis definitely like to sink. I only have about 15 minutes on a circus but I know it can feel like a pogo stick when the ass sinks(not bashing it, its a fun as hell ski!) . I went to a ski that is 5 inches longer and that had a drastic change in how stable and less nose high it is on landings.

What about putting something like this on the rails?

I seen that weapon lands realll nice looks like a riot.
Yeah the circus is a little short for my liking it’s hard not to be a one trick pony but I also have no ride plate basically haha.

As of right now there is a high chance that a secret buddy of mine is laying up a fresh badass with 155 tunnel for me this winter so I might hold off on the mods for now but I will be laying up some plates for anyone who wants one. No promises on them being perfect but functional!!!
Going to clean the bottom deck up with marine Tex and gator glide it black maybe dress the rails up in turf to hide some chipping and send her on her way if the hull comes thru.
It’s biggest flaw is where the hood foam block was, the previous owner decided to use the edge of a orbital and leave nasty dishing in the gel coat so it’s unfixable without some sort of hiding.

@DylanS do you think a longer bottom section will adversely affect how the ski rides and flips?
I think the ski could be about 2” longer overall with a ride plate that hangs about 2” over the added section to be perfect for me. I’m not a pro by any means but it feels way more like a one trick pony rather than a combo machine but a longer plate could change my mind I just have to wait for @fastgtfairlane to crank me out some product
The new badass will be -6 so I’ll see how that does for me.
