Couple questions and random thoughts

I'm kicking around the idea throwing together a ski. I don't know which hull to use.

I would guess it would be hard for me to put together a stock hull.

How are the custom hulls registered?

Would California complain about a hull with a build origin in Australia?

Thats alot of $$ in Carbon, but it sounds like it does have some fiberglass in it as well. Im just trying to figure out how its only 5k shipped to the US, but then again it does not include a hood either I guess. Materials to build a hull like this is VERY expensive, and I think that is what alot of people may not understand.

Sounds reasonable.... 77lbs is pretty light.

Looks great
Good luck!

Its $5,000 plus shipping, and the majority is carbon fibre and yes there is some glass in it but the majority is carbon, its the vacum pump that was the expensive part, those things are not cheep as everything is vacum infused..

Brian, not sure how it would go over there but over here all you need is a plate with a few numbers on it fixed to the hull, but not sure over there.... i could always work out a deal on a hull for a motor ?????

Just out of interest, do Yamaha know that you are copying their hull? I doubt that they're going to like the fact that you're stealing their IP (the hull shape) to make money.. just my 2c.
The design patent on the bottom hull shape has expired. The 14-year limit on the roundnose top deck is about to expire. It would not be worth trying to sue. Even an immediate injunction would not be effective for very long. Add in the possibility of a counter-suit, plus the PR hit, and legal action would make no sense at all for Yamaha.

I am still shocked you can make that hull for 5k. Amazing work! Looks incredible.

The US dollar is pretty strong against the Aussie dollar right now. It's about 30% stronger ie giving him 6k in USD is really giving him 9k AUSD

It's a great time to buy Australian products

You guys hit the nail right on the head we get $0.68 for the US dollar so it works in our favour, sure Carbon is expensive but the guy who makes the hulls does this for a living.
We have anouther hull ready with the smaller chines so I will take pics of that one and post it,
cheers

Here are some updated photo's, this hull is the test hull and is laid up as light as possible and no reinforcing and we will be running it in the surf to see how it goes.
I can not ride it as i have dislocated my shoulder so will be getting mates who can't even flip and roll to put it through its paces and we will see how it handles the riding and the abuse.
initially we have been given a ride plate from Jack shelly at worx to try and will be trying different set ups.
the ski will not slide out and rails like and sxr but feels very small and light , time will tell if this design is good, i want my should to get better very shortley so i can ride my ski!
