If we have time we will try them all, it will probably take 2 days drive to get to cali, so that makes it the 8th or 9th, then we have 4 days to get up to grayland im going to guess we could drive to grayland in a day, day and a half with stops
where do you ride?
another stupid surf question, how much does the suf change from place to place ie. Oside-> Pismo are the waves bigger or does it depend on the day?

i would say more than one day to get to greyland unless your a phsyco and love to drive.... lol. it took us 16 hours to get to Tierre Del Mar in oregon......

i ride usually in Ventura but i go to Oside and Pismo cuz its only a couple hour drive to each.

waves really depend on the day/swell.

Ya it was nice, clean surf out there in Grayland on saturday in the early afternoon, then as the tide was going out there were some bigger waves out further that I would guess were 5+ft easily.. I probably could've backflipped if I was ready and had the balls to do it.. I gave it too much to jump a wave and not enough to go all the way around (I have a carb issue with a hesitation, which came on at the wrong time).. Landed upside down in the water.. fun for sure! Towards the end of the afternoon closer to tide change the surf started to get a bit messy... But its always fun and an extreme work out...

We have alot of river riding we could do after work if you guys are around here too before or after the GO.. I live in Aberdeen and there are a few of us locals that love to ride afterwork on nice days..

From Anahiem to my house in Aberdeen is about 18hrs going I-5, then about 30 min to Grayland.. or you can turn in Portland and head to Astoria, then take 101 north to Grayland.. its probably 2.5hrs from portland maybe going that way..

Whats your river like? deep rapids? Ive got a pretty slow moving river a few blocks from my place we bomb around in during the hot days not very deep either about 6'-7'

Im guessing the surf is better in the morning?

Its very deep right now. towards the end of the summer about 15miles east of Aberdeen it gets shallow, like 8" deep in spots, but I rode it last summer upstream.. Most of the rivers around here are probably atleast 10ft deep for the most part. The Chehalis river from the ocean to Elma is built for barge and tug or large cargo ship traffic-ships can only make it to Aberdeen.. It is alot of fun to ride, lots of channels off to the side to explore, logs to jump, pilings to slalom..

The surf really depends on the day.. some days its great, some its nasty, some its gross looking, some days its a deep blue-like saturday was...

Here you go bud, here’s some surf riding basics. I hope you guys have a good time on your road trip, if you make it as far South as Oceanside, post on the X and we’ll ride.

Ski set up- at minimum have the following;
Tow rope- If you have to tow a long way you want a long rope, like 40’ Nothings worse than getting rag dolled with jet wash in your face cause your tow rope is to short, other than towing for 30min because your ropes to short to tow fast.
Extra set of plugs- in a water proof bag
Can of either (Starting fluid) I don’t recommend you spray this in your motor ever. It’s for cleaning your plugs after you sink your ski. Gets ‘em nice and crisp dry for your best chance at getting a sunken ski restarted.
Plug wrench- self explanitory
Pole limiter- yeah get one of these.
Hood straps- probably not necessary for a beginner unless you have balls the size of Texas and are going for the ariels

Now the basics, Surf riding 101.

1. Have all the stuff above before your first ride.
2. It’s a good idea to hook up and ride with others riders experienced in the surf
3. Never let go of your ski.
4. Go at it at your own pace, don’t try and be a pro the first day.
5. Never let go of your ski, I mean never.
6. When going through an approaching a wave, try and hit it as straight on as possible
7. Jump or carve off the wave early when its still a roller, not when its pitching top to bottom, leave that to the pro’s
8. Have a good time, that’s what its all about.
9. Did I mention to never let go of your ski?

I've got a limiting rope, and jetmaniac brap strap, how important is it to have the stock FA? I've got aftermarket with a WDK hood and dual breather rrp pole will I have a water problem?
