Are SBT cranks reliable?

I am going to be buying a new crank soon and I was wondering if the SBT cranks are as good as they say they are? Will these hold up and a high compression 1200cc motor and not explode? Should I just stick to a weisco or hotrods?

just curious, are they cheaper?

personally i roll with the hotrodz only pushing 180-185ish though but the motor was just pulled apart and the crank looks awesome still. its about...2-3 years old?

weisco is a good company too.

i have a biased opinion about SBT haha. POOO!

yes......there will be sbt haters who will dissagree but i have used them in twins and tripples with no probs

All I can say is my buddy had HORRIBLE luck with 2 cranks in a row from them....

i put one in a gpr it made it 3 tanks of fuel before pto crank bearing cage failed 1st it ate the 2 rear crank seals then when it sat on the beach it water injested due to the newly damaged seals

My engine builder recomended Hot Rod cranks to me....

I have used rebuilt cranks from several differant rebuilders over the years.
rebuilt get roughly 1/2 the service life of new. In built motors, even less.
If you figure shipping both ways, & the cost of the rebuild it's self , there is little differance over a new wiesco crank, the Wiesco is the way to go.
