Yep. Pollen/mold floats around in the water, and gets in your nose easier. Happens to me in the spring and fall. I'm sure this isn't a problem in salt water.

If I do a lot of subs, I get messed up. This year was the worst. The water was just loaded with pollen. Maybe next year I'll throw on the mask and snorkel before I jump on the ski.

We've had 3 people die down in central FL from ameba infections. They get into your brain through your sinuses and you have about a day to live once you have any symptoms. I'm getting nose clips before I get back into the freshwater.

I had a sinus infection last me a little over a month, even with antibiotics and sinus medicine it was terrible. I was getting up at 3-5am every day because I couldn't sleep and my nose was draining like a hose.

It didn't keep me from sking though, in fact when I was in the water and after a nice sub I felt the best I'd felt all day.

Anyway, it's finally about gone 100% and I'm on week 5 or 6 now, it's been hell here lately with fires, pollen, and wind!!

I got really sick a few years ago from ecoli while kayaking in a whitewater stream here. That is the sickest I have ever been.

freshwater sucks

this is the best advice I have gotten for ears ever
my ENT doctor told me to mix 50/50 vinegar and rubbing alcohol and shoot it into your ears to clean them every day if you feel sinus issues or clogage.... I do it almost everyday

the alcohol replaces the water then evporates very quickly leaving the ear dry, while the vinegar kills bacteria... alcohol alone WILL NOT kill the bacteria and that is straight from my doctor... Think about it... what do women use for yeast infections and other bacterial gina infections.??? Vinegar....

When I get water behind my eyes or ears it usually take a few hours after riding to recover. Nasal congestion usually, I blow it all out as best as I can and give the old head a shake for the ears.

Thats all really. The longest it will last is until I go to sleep, wake up and its fine.

also, to get water out of your head.... stand straight up and bend over at the waist and blow out your nose... it comes out like a faucet sometimes after a session...
