Another refoam question

My square was leaning to the right at a pretty good angle. At night I would notice a small amount of water would drip out from around the exhaust. I pulled the factory exhaust pipe out and noticed the seal around the flange was gone. I tried to use a hair dryer for a couple of days to dry out the foam. I then reinstalled the pipe with some 5200 and I thought it was good.

The last time we had it out it was at about a 20 degree right tilt. I pulled the factory exhaust back out today and when I broke the seal of 5200, water started running out. I have collected about a quart of water from it dripping now. I have butchered some of the foam and it seams like it is waterlogged about 1" deep around the top half of the exhaust tube. The bottom half if dry.

Here is my question. I am planning on going to front only exhaust. I am going to make a long wire wheel to take out all the foam on the right side. Then make an aluminum plate to block off the rear of the ski and stand it on its tail. Then pour in new foam from the engine side. What do you think?

Also I filled the tray up with dyed water for 3 hours and could not find any signs that it is leaking water. If the exhaust seal was bad could it wet the foam all the way to the bulkhead?

Any ideas, tips, suggestions...

the exhaust is only one of many places it sneaks in
also the thru hulls for the steering tubes etc in the bulkhead
and the pump and ride plate inserts
if you have a scupper yet another

and there is more!!!!!!!

any and all could be suspect

If I use the factory waterbox how loud would it be? I was planning on running it around the battery area to exit.

Its zachs ski. What was the weight of the foam you have? I was going to order some to refill the right side.

I have front and rear exhaust and front exhaust is one mod I would never do again. Smoke in the face and after a day of breathing it I can feel sick to my stomach and it is way to loud. I am actually looking for a hand ball so I can plug it up from the outside. Front exhaust has no benefit and is annoying. IMO

You will never get all of the water out. The proper way to refoam would be to cut out the tray, get all of the foam out, then seal all water entry points with 5200 (ie drive shaft tube, waterlines, pump/plate/grate bolts, exhaust, etc. Otherwise, you are wasting time and it will fill up again....

I think it's 2lb foam. Not sure what they use from the factory. I would think if you just did one side, and it didn't match the factory it would still make the ski tilt. Was his ski wet on both sides when we installed the footholds? I can't remember.

No just the right. I am just trying to get it to be semi level for now then tear it down this winter.

Agreed! :arms:

I took out the pump shoe screws and water was pouring out. I removed the shoe and cut a rectangle out of the front tray. The foam was soaked with water. So a full refoam is in order -
