Freestyle Another Helmet Thread... (Lacrosse)

I have been searching the 5000 threads on helmets and finally decided picked up a lacrosse helmet for $50 at a place called Play it again Sports by my house. The college by me has a lacrosse team so they have plenty.

I am planning on covering the ear holes with some turf or some left over gym padding from a turf job.

My question has to do with the visor. After reading all the other threads everyone complains about having their neck nearly ripped off when they hit the water hard. I am thinking of cutting some holes in my visor to allow the water to pass through easier, but I don't know if I'm just wasting my time and destroying my helmet. Here's a pic.

Thoughts?

These visors aren't nearly as big as those on the BMX helmets. No need to cut holes in this one though I did cut the cage down just a bit, couldn't handle the bar right in the middle.

$50 is a good price for one of those, can you get more ?

I'll hold off on cutting for now. My ski is in pieces in the garage at the moment and needs more attention anyway, but I can look for anyone at the store for more of these helmets if anyone is interested. The only down side is that they don't mark the sizes very well. I had to try them on in the store. Some have stickers in them with size. some don't.

From what I have read on the other threads though, the size kinda depends on how much padding is in them.

Don't cut the visor - I've never had a problem with mine. You won't regret buying that helmet: the first time you eat the pole and you feel nothing but a slight bump in the face you will happily pay $200 for the next one!

I just put duct tape over the ear holes.
