Can't find a decent used 62t CDI right now. Don't have $300 for a new one. See aftermarket new replacements available these days. Anyone take the chance and run one yet?
I got 3 seasons on an ebay $60 aftermarket ( no rev limiter, non adjustable). No problems.

Good info. I only gave these a shot after getting 2 brand new MSD’s DOA right from MSD and being told that I was hooking them up wrong. So obviously I’m too stupid for MSD and their wonderful perfect product. And I was too lazy to mod an oe. When my buddy had his Epic fail he popped one in “temporarily “ 2 seasons ago. Make spark go kind of situation. I got mine on a +15 seasons 61x that don’t owe me a dime so risk/ loss ratio is low. If safety is a concern they have rev limiter versions @ same price point. You might see "No Rev Limiter" as a feature, but when DB @ ProTec first
started modifying Yamaha rev limiters, he removed the rev limiter. DB (ProTec)
was also racing at the time and the cdi's with no rev limiters were snapping
off the nose of the crank.
Then he started using a mod to make the rev limiters adjustable with a max
9000rpm rev limit. This mod fixed the crank breaking problem.
The cranks broke in 2 different places. The entire nose @ the crank web, in
between the web and main bearing. The other was the big end pin of the
front cylinder con rod.
I have seen the same crank failures on MX and Street bikes.

There is no doubt the new cranks are better, but I still see it as a possibility,
and I didn't mention careless wave jumping or rebuilt cranks with Chinese
connecting rods with no rev limiter![]()
Yes sir, already got it on me 898 big dollar set up ( or medium dollar as compared to a 1200). For a low dollar creek beater $60 for Jsp vs $300+ for Msd was a no brainer for me.just go zeeltronic with 760 electrics
