AC Racing SN SJ pole vs. Stock RN pole

I have a stock length AC racing pole on my superjet I am rebuilding. I am wondering if I should sell it and get a stock RN pole and bracket, and then shorten the RN pole.

Any thoughts on this?

Any idea what I could sell a nice condition SN Polished aluminum pole for?

i would take the ac pole to your local welder and have them shorten it about 4"

if its a -2 ac pole it'll be worth a bit. if it is id keep it and run a -1 turnplate and lowered bracket.

if its stock length id sell it, buy a stock pole and a lowered bracket and shorten pole accordingly.

i run a -3.5 stock pole and dream of a lowered bracket

My buddy has a RN with a ton of power, but I for the life of me don't like the length of the stock pole, and my biggest problem with it is how far you have to go lock to lock to get it to turn all the way. It's one of the most annoying things I've dealt with since I started riding in July.

On that note: I rode an all stock SXR today with the intake grate missing, and it suits me just fine. The stock bars and plate on that thing seem perfect.

Now that I think about it, the SXR has a dale's jet sport handlepole on it, that's it. Everything else is stock. It feels pretty short, but I don't know a definite number.

section a 4" piece out of the middle of that bitch, weld it up and you'll still be able to use the stock steering

A good family friend is a great welder. I was planning on having it cut and rewelded, but wanted to see what you guys though about the cut aluminum route, vs. the stock shortened RN route

just an FYI...I have a SN AC -4 pole and the hood needs clearenced to go down all the way. So some fiberglassing may be in order or you can just run a higher pole bumper. Just thought you should know that instead of getting it all done and saying WTF!

Yea, I was looking at that the other night when I had my bracket off. I laid the pole down on the hood, and it looks like you could probably only take about 1.5" or so off the pole and still have it go all the way down.

It should be ok though, I don't do any hood riding, and I will definitely make a pole bumper for it.

the RN pole looks a helluva lot nicer on a square, but id rather have the strength of the a/c pole.

x2, i shortened my ac -5 and had to do some "hammer customization" to the pole to get it to fit better into the hood notch. It's still not perfect but i'm just going to run a high pole pad.

I never really cared for my -2 Ac pole I thought it was way too heavy I went back to stock a few years ago -3 ¾”. My stock pole is weightless with a spring.

The AC racing pole I have is weightless. I'm not to sure what spring it has, because I'm not too terribly familiar with Superjet stuff yet, but it looks aftermarket. It is alot lighter than the stock SN pole though, I had one of those that I threw away to compare it to.

Squarenose poles are ugly and pigs. The chinpad is huge, the profile is wide as a snowboard, and I always felt that they were heavy. Even the LAuminum poles.

Get an RN with bracket. It will swap over to another hull and you have chinpad options too.

That's what I am leaning towards, I just don't know if I will be able to get enough for the AC pole to cover the stock RN pole, and bracket for it. Shortening the RN pole seems simple as pie though, so I am tempted.
