About to get my 08 yamaha superjet!!

Ericfox

Do it twice?That's DooDoo
lol this is painfull
parents want to wait till spring.
any reasons i should mention that i should get it now?
(lol i want it so bad i hate waiting..)

If you are not going to do any mods until the warranty is up- there is NO need to get it now... just make sure you have a dealer lined up that can get one for you quick when it gets warm enough to get on the water.

just shorten the pole, add a prop, straight bars, and intake grate and learn how to ride it....

we have a frind here locally with those exact same mods on an 06 and it is GREAT!

08 comes with a shortened pole..............

where you been, might want to get your eyes checked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:smashfreakB::smashfreakB::smashfreakB::439: j/k

sounds like it has an fx1 pole

It does sound like the FX setup. If so, you're going to be limited on how much steering ratio you can get due to limited cable motion. With the FX setup if you use outer steering pivot hole (even on stock plate) it tends to bind the cable and eventually take out the cable retainer.

square plate and fx1 pole, any other re-used parts? did the drive shaft come out of a blaster?

I just bought a brand new 2008 Superjet take off bearing housing and it's different than pre-08. It now has a shoulder inside, which I guess is to better support the bearings or seals. It was a bummer for me 'cause I bought it for my Kawi conversion and I had to throw it in the lathe and remove the shoulder.

I'm not sure if it will work for pre-08 superjets....it probably will??

lol what other stuff can i get ride off?
pictures would help greatly if someone has them!!!

Hmmmm.

Ride Plate
Intake grate
Bars
throttle
Complete Steering system
Chinpad
Pole
Cone
Pump
Hood
Nose Piece
Turf
Prop
Complete Engine and all components

Hell, you can even upgrade the hull.

Aftermarket parts are plentiful for superjets. The complete ski can be changed part by part, and eventually probably will.

For now just ride it stock for atleast a season. The when you mod it you'll have something to compare it too. Have fun.

the 08 SJ is great, the new bottom, and set back pump are worth getting one. as far as getting rid of stuff first thing I took off was the stock ride plate. they did not make a new one for the 08, they just used the old one and set it back, so it stuck out the back two inches. one drawback is the steering cable, it has less throw than the 07 and back SJ. the way that they shortened the hand pole on the 08 was by changing the piece where the turn plate mounts and there was less room for the older style cable. (If you are going to use an after market hand pole you will need to get an older cable.)

so if i buy xmetals steering and bars will that bolt up to my 08?

Installing superjet flushkit

But where does the superjet'08 flush kit go? My dealer has no clue, and I even spoke directly to Yamaha, and they said the only instructions are in the kit (as does the superjet manual), but they don't sell a flush kit for the superjet'08, so have no instructions.
It doesn't look like the water intake is exposed in the engine compartment, and some people are saying to put a T in the 'little pisser', use a clamp between your T and the outflow, and then with engine running, turn on the hose lightly and backflush. But I'm uncomfortable running water through the system backwards, and not sure it even would go. I also wanted to pump antifreeze into the superjet for the winter using the flush kit, but not certain that everything would really flow backwards all the way through the system with the engine running. but I would never flush without the engine running either, so really puzzled where a flush kit/antifreeze filler belongs in the superjet. Any ideas?

just put a T fitting in the cooling line to mount the flush kit

or just buy a fitting that will fit into your pisser.

Backflushing is fine, actually its good, because it will push and debris back out of the cooling lines if there is any in there.

I backflush right through the pissers on my ski.

there isn't a certain direction the water has to go as long as it swirls around the cylinders and grabs some heat as it goes then the Heated water is squirted out, hence the name pisser.
