i heart me some makai...mostest gangster hotel in the world...we'll be staying there...again...hopefully this year the room will not reek of cooked cabbage the whole time (although i think we wound up paying extra for that)...he he

Wait a minute. He said clean/nice. the answer is that there is a waffle house virtually across the street, but it is probably about the oldest one you've ever been in and the staff may have a full set of teeth among them. I still eat there several times every year.

GDFL you must have payed attention in sChOol !! U r correct - the word is clean/nice !! I already googled it and there is one out on the highway 12+ miles.. I will check it out this yr and report!! (I like to go for a short drive in the moring when on the road to find a cup of coffee and look around)...We don't have them here in South Texas - but Houston area does! The country ham they have is the real deal!! Just like the good stuff in Virginia! Maybe not A++ country ham - but something close.. You can't beat a nice/clean waffle house on the road for a "quick" meal knowing what you "will" get!!!

insert: yes there is just a thing as a nice/clean one.. I have hit many of them on IH10 /etc going to North Carolina... Guess they must have been the newer ones

Yeah I was at the Driftwood last year also it sucked! It was mostly because of the neighbors though :smashfreakB:

I think it was written about the one across the street. Still hasn't stopped me from eating there.
