So after getting everything all said and done yesterday, my ski finally is finished regardless of the battery issue(got a spare for temp purposes).
I launched my ski today, tuned my carbs to pauls recommendations(1.5 turns low, .5 turn on the highs.
Anyways, ski runs flawless for 10 min. No hesitation, no loading up, ski is right on. Well all of a sudden the ski starts sputtering out right in the middle of the lake. Thank god my sister was there, but she had to go back and get a tow rope for me. What I didnt realize till about a few min later was the front of the ski was sinking a bit in the water(the extra weight in the gas tank from being full didnt' help.
Anyways, she had gone back in and back out twice bc the rope wasn't short enough to hook around the front of the ski, and my ski kept on sinking. Well, after 2 tries of getting the right tow rope, my whole front ski is almost underwater. I finally get it tied down and stuff, and then i rode in the tray while she tows me in(while the ski is completely nosediving underwater). Keep in mind my attwood has been on the whole time, or my ski would be at the bottom of the lake.
So I take my ski on my hoist, let the water drain out and get another bilge pump from land in there(ski is completely full). I tried to start it after all the water was out(Bad mistake), and I hydrolocked the motor. Panicking, I called up my buddy al(jetdude), pulled the plugs, spayed wd 40 and ether, started cranking the water out. Lots of water for sure, but it started to clear up
So as I was cranking, I noticed my coupler on my chamber is off, and I finally figured out why my ski was leaking and looking like it was overheating inside. Finally get the bastard started up and idled, then I sprayed fogging oil in the cylinders and in the carbs since I had to leave for a wedding party.
Moral of the story: Never ride alone if possible, and don't get overconfident even if you think the ski runs right. Ride in the shallow spot if possible.
Boy what a day:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
