OK, help me understand what's going on here fellas: 05 SXR, running great, premixed with Amsoil 55:1, super unleaded gas all the time.
Ran it on Saturday, no issues. Some minor restart issues after ski had been sitting in the water for about 20 minutes, but no biggie. Flushed ski and stored it nose up on the trailer for a night for it to drain and dry. Went to fire it up the next afternoon, hard to start. Even after choked. Finally started and about 5-6 tablespoons of oil POURED and sputtered out of the exhaust outlet. SKi ran fine, just smoked like a motherf***er, and oil dripped out of the exhaust once I stopped it.
Started it again today, not as much oil, still smoked and hard to start, but still leaking oil.
I don't think I am running it too rich at 55:1 (factory calls for 60:1), but why the heck is oil coming out of the exhaust? Did I blow something somewhere? Is this normal? What could potentially be wrong?

Run the crap out of it (high speed runs and blow it out) Then change your plugs...Mine does that after a long winter....or if I ran it in salt water...(cleans all the carbon and gunk out of the pipe and waterbox)

OK thanks guys. I figured it wasnt something that was soon to be catastrophic. I'm going to keep it at 55:1 SHo. Good advice..thanks all.

I'm don't own an SXR but if the manufacturer doesnt specify super unleaded, you shouldn't run it. Your engine can't properly burn high octane fuel (octane is a rating for the resistance to combustion characteristics) and would run better off 87 octane (or what MFG reccomends).

Really? Wow, that's good to know-it'll save me some cash! Thanks

Uh- do you shut the gas off when you aren't riding? Is it possible that your needle/seat is leaking, dumping raw gas into your cases and into the exhaust and the gas is acting as a solvent cleaning the goo out of your exhaust? It would explain the restart and smoking issues.

Good thinking!
