Super Jet A lot more fun in the ocean than in the lake, but not for too long :(..

So we took the ski to the ocean today. It was much harder than the flat water, but a lot more fun . Everything was going great until I gave my ski to my 230 pounds friend... He tried to get on the ski for awhile but with no success until the ski went under water ...
End of fun... I am taking the ski to the dealer tomorrow, but I guess this has happened before. What needs to be done in this case? My ignorant friend kept trying to start it after it stalled in the water. When we pulled it out the ski didn't even cranked.

you don't have time to take the ski to the dealer. You need to get that salt water out NOW!

pull the spark plugs and dump the water out (ski upside down) while pressing the start button. turn it back over and try starting it on one plug at a time. sprying starting fluid in the cylinder with the plug in it will help get it started. This will take many attempts.


once the ski will run, take it back on the water and run it hard to burn off all the water.



If you leave the water in the motor it will rust it solid and the dealer will not replace the motor.

X2 what WaveDemon said , the clock is ticking, if you wait your crank is toast. plugs out upside down roll both ways twice crank with stop button pressed for 6 seconds each direction a few times before putting plug(s) in Then yell CONTACT ! and ride that mofo like Jet maniac but without the bouncing of the rev limiter .

contact cleaner spray works well to dry out plugs between cranking attempts
get it going and run the heck out of it!!!!

Hey guys,

Thanks for the instant advice. We did exactly what you suggested. Unfortunately it was 10pm; too late to go back to the water, but once it started I flushed and ran it for 10-15 minutes. I hope I got all the bad stuff out of the cylinders. Later on today I'll go to the lake to run it more and see if it runs good.
Why the damn mechanic from the dealer told me to wait until tomorrow and not even try to start it?? They also told me I should not worry about getting water in the hull...

The dealer doesn't make money if you do it yourself..

getting some water in the hull is okay...an aftermarket bilge will take care of it. I run two and usually make sure they are on before anyone gets on my ski. I'd look into getting some ASAP

it is a spray can with a tube- put the tube down the air filter
and fire it off. spray oil while running until a cloud envelopes you,
the ski and half the neighborhood. just kidding, run it for about 30 seconds
this will coat the bearings/crank/rings/etc
at this point just go ride!

I rode it in the ocean for 30mins without problem, it was ultimate fun. Then I gave it to my elephant friend and it all went bad..

and fogging my skis is one of my FAVORITE neighborhood activities!!!! always make sure to do it when theres people around just to see their jaws drop lol..

I have neighbors on my right that are like family to me and neighbors on my left that I'd like to disappear off the face of the earth...so I go out of my way to smoke those bastards out. It's like fogging for mosquitos only way more fun.

I keep the ski in my shop, so the only fogged was myself and the person who drowned it ..

One big thing to remember if you suck in water and the motor wont turn over. Don't try to turn it over any more. Get it to shore and get the plugs out and start cranking away. There are plenty of pictures of what happens to hydrolocked motors in the carnage section. When I hydro locked my superjet it scared the crap out of me. But pulling the plugs getting the water out and getting the motor to run is very important. Then ride the piss out of it and fog it with oil. Also if your riding in the ocean you need to flush it after every ride other wise everything will start to corrode. Make sure the motor is running before you back flush it other wise you will fill the motor up with water and hydrolock it.
