A little loaded up

Hey guys

I am looking for a little input.

I just built a stock stroke big bore, 61x cyl. with 85.5mm pro x pistons. I have dual 44 sbn's on an r&d intake. I'm running a 100 main, 110 low, 2.3n&s with 115g spring. This worked great on my ported 701.

If I do a sub, nose stab or idle, this thing takes a long time to clear out. I rode 1/4 throttle for a min. then hit it. It feels good without being loaded up. My problem is up to 1/4 throttle. The plugs are dark, but dry. I also have alot of piston wash. Would a higher popoff fix any of this?

Thanks

Replace the 2.3 N/S with 2.0 and 95 grams springs I beleive. Use what ever spring gets you about 21 or 22 psi pop off. You might also drop down to 100 or 105 pilots. Tune the low end with the jets not the mixture screw, it is only for getting the idle smooth. Sometimes I have to run a little higher idle when doing stabs & subs to keep it clean after the trick.

The pop-off only comes in at around 1/4 throttle or so. Yes, you'll lean out the high end, but you need to compensate with the high speed screws. It won't affect the low end.

I'd go with a higher pop-off pressure to get rid of your quarter throttle hesitation.

Are they OEM or aftermarket Mikunis?

115 Pilot Jets
122.5 Main Jets
2.0 Needle & Seat
95 Gram Dull Silver Spring

You need to jet larger when going to a smaller needle and seat combo.

They are aftermarket sbn 44's.
