That's the truth! Those offshore powerboats have millions invested in them, and I mean millions. If you want to go fast cheap, then you need an inshore powerboat. My brother used to race them in the UK. They're freaking awesome - push down on the foot throttle and the surface prop spins for a bit doing nothing, but when it bites you get pinned to your seat right up to 100 mph! I've never seen the end of a lake coming at me so fast. Hitting about 4 g's on a turn is also a fun experience....

Another observation about power boats that I have:

When sitting in your float tube in the middle of a peaceful lake fly fishing, thinking that you have the lake to yourself sice it kinda cold and rainy, nothing is scarrier that to see a hydro boat comming right at you at WOT. It'll make you piss yourself and scream like a little girl.

Not starting anything here either...

Yes Fountain has WON Several APBA titles in several classes for many years... No questions abotu that. Yes they probabaly have the fastest boat going.. But these boats arn't able to be owned by anyone. Throttle man on the fastest V bottom is Reggie Fountain (founder/owner) etc... Crazy story.

Just wanted to put my opinion out there though, that as a consumer boat, dollar for dollar, in "OFF TH LOT" condition you will find much better offerings with faster hulls, better power options, and nicer fit and finish than Fountain.

They are overpriced for the performance you get.

Want to really drool.

www.offshoreonly.com - classifieds.

My favourite brands are:

Nortech - (probabaly the best overall package, not cheap),
MTI - (big cats, fast, pricey),
Donzi - (the 38ZR only, tried tested and true, fast hull, good looks),
Dragon - (ridiculous styling & hull speed on reliable power [stock 525's])
Spectre - (used they are affordable, they are also fast, outboard options too)
Skater - (fast, expensive, I personally don't like them)
Hustler - (good looks, beautiful 34' Cheetah though, like that boat best of all...)
Velocity - cheap option for those who want performance and can sacrifice a bit of styling, reliable, fast hulled boats though

Just browse the classifieds. I always said that if I ever made it big, I'd much rather dump $250K into a boat than a Ferrari. The 39' Dragon makes my pants feel funny... Beautiful boat.

OMG Some of those poker motors!

also the RXP is ablsolutly sick!

i have the magellen sport trak color. it works on WAS. I have picked up 10 sats at once. I have a screen that shows the sats you are receiving signals from. I have only found one place mine does not receive signal and that is in the hill country west of austin, tx, in my father in laws house way out in the country. But I only get like four sats down in that area.

I vote BS on the 92 MPH also. I have a sportrak color also and sitting at my puter here next to the window that has a few trees over the south side of the yard mine don't pick up squat. I can see the sky looking out the window but there is no signal at all. I can take it outside and let it aquire all the sats it wants as soon as I come in the house it looses them one at a time untill nothing.

It does sound good but nothing like a ported outboard with above water exhaust ripping across the lake spinnig 8 or 8.5K RPM This my favorite boat websiteScream and Fly

BS on the radar reading also. I have that same GPS, It varies greatly i've found depending on how it's held, where it's placed, and location on the lake. Seems to work pretty good driving down the highway though. :)

we are talking bout gps. not radar. to completely different ways of measuring speed.... gps is prone to spikes in speed depending on the refresh rate of the satellite and the firmware in the unit itself
