thanks

So I mentioned that the SN had some rot problems... here's what I was referring to: That is a solid stream of water coming out of the underside of the hull. I had a video of it but I lost it; it sounded the same as when I'm doing laundry and the washing machine is filling up with water...

The SMC was just completely delaminated.

As a temp fix I layed up 2-3 sheets of biax on the inside of the hull to last through the summer.

Now I have ground out all the SMC down to the biax I laid this summer. Next I laid some more biax on the outside of the hull and then covered everything with high density filler. Just need to sand everything flush and it should be good to go.

hmm hope that works out, a few guys in my crew had cracks in their hull and if its holding water it turns into junk similar to wet particle board. it will delaminate before too long if you didn't remove all the rot. Like I said, this is what happened to them so I can't say how thorough they were with the repairs but they are not slackers.

I was very careful in removing all the rotted SMC. What your looking at in the picture where it is all ground out is where I actually ground through and removed all of the original hull section. The different colored patches are actually biaxial that was laid on the inside of the hull as a temp repair (about 6 monts ago). So if that wasn't there you would be looking at 3 large holes in the bottom of the hull.

The last picture is after I laid some more biaxial from the outside and then covered it with high density filler. Everything was done with epoxy resin so it shouldn't have any bonding issues and 100% of the affected SMC was removed.

Fairing in the sponsons and then ready for paint. Tray is all sealed up, will post pics after sanding.

Test fit my new nose piece and RN pole setup on the square. Looking like a real frankenstein....
