800 SX-R Stability-Ride

How much more stable is a 800 SX-R than say a 550, 650 or 750. I know it is wider and heavier. I am looking for a ski to carve with and ride some rough fresh water. I don't think I will be doing any tricks. I currently have a Ultra LX which I love. I am looking to get my first stand up. I have decent balance. I slalom ski in a course, ride dirt bikes and paddleboard in rough water.

Thanks,
Mike

Well I bought one today. It was extremely clean. Now I need to go somewhere warm to try it out and learn stand up. Looks like I have to go to central FL to find 70 water. I am going to stay in fresh water.

All joking aside, I think you will love it.

The SXR is fast, stable and a lot of fun, unlike any of the earlier model skis you compared it to. :)

If you like cruising larger bodies of water and covering distances, the SXR will be one of the best choices.

cant go wrong with an sxr. pretty fast in stock form, easy to ride and carves like rails, a great aftermarket parts availability for it. and if you want a lot more power, a 1100 swaps pretty much right in. great ski to cruise around in long distances and handles chop very well. they do half decent in the surf some like it some dont.

GREAT ski your going to love it - if in ocean make sure to get bilge pump

Your best bet for keeping water out, is to seal up the front breather hole on the hood. It lets in SOOO much water if you sub or plow through breaking waves. Add a second breather hole in the back near the tray area. Get the SXR Versi-plug to replace the drain plug. Water is stored in the gunwales/tray area otherwise. I have an electric bilge pump, but I never see it pump water... Stock bilge and Versi plug keep FTW.
