760 in a SJ

Ok, a couple of days ago I asked if you could put a blaster limitied pipe in a sj. Now I have come upon a blaster II with a new 760 in it.

Question now is:
1. Will this motor bolt right in or will I need different motor mounts?
2. Will the blaster limited 701 pipe bolt to the 760?
3. Electronics will I need to swap them also?

Thanks in advance. I am hoping to have a 760 sj with a blaster limited in a few days if this all works.

66e is 800

760 is the same physical size as a 701

factory stock 760s have dual 44 carbs

bolt holes are larger in the 760 cylinder, can timecert, or helicoil them, OR drill the pipe manifold to use the larger bolts

It is in a race hull (old school tubbies and not lightened, refoamed, or reinforced) so the ski feels heavy to me but it still absolutely screams across the water!!

I'm running a 14.5/18 I think with a B pipe and 175psi w/ stock dual 44's. Stock porting.

I can't launch this thing anywhere near what I can do with mine (typical 701 free ride set up) but slashing the waves and flat water riding are fun as hell!

Throttle damn near seems unlimited.

And Paul told me once that he can port a stock 760 to within 20% of what he can port a stock 701. So it will never hit as hard on the bottom as a ported 701 but you can get very close.

Mat, are you saying that your 701 hits harder than the 760 for freestyle? I am trying to build a frestyle boat that currently has a single carb 701 with the protech wake up kit on it. My goal is to get more bottom end ala bigger motor.

Yes mine hits harder but it is 701 with a lightened flywheel, 180psi and a B pipe and worked over carbs. Then 13/16-3mm swirl prop with bored nozzle. Oh yea and bored a couple over (81.50 I think??) with Wisecos.

It is close and I really would like to drop the 760 in to my set up just to see but I dunno.......I just want to ride!!

I think the proper way to do a 760 for freestyle is to re sleeve a 61x 701 cylinder to 760 and then you get the proper port timing.

I have pauls 760 port. havent riddent a true BB 760 with pauls port to compare the two. But i am very happy with what i got.:highhorse: I got the memo within %10-%15 difference from a 61x but a ton cheaper. :headbang:

WAAAAY CHEAPER!! And I'm glad to hear you like it. I would love to have Paul port mine too!!!!

It must hit super hard with the right prop!! Probably still a 13/16, right?

I have the 760 ported by Paul with a 13/16 3mm cutback prop and I absolutely love it. Very nice bottom end hit and extremely reliable. Going on my 3rd season with it, without touching a thing other than the battery.

Didn't know that... I assume the stator is identical, but the CDI isn't??

No, the stator is a flywheel cover mounted unit that fits inside of the flywheel. It's a digital system, and I am not a pro as this stuff. I was asking damn near the same questions a couple months ago, and I was told, and found some info on it. :Banane01:
