I know approximately what Art charges for big boring a 61X cylinder.
Why not cough up the comparatively small amount for better cases? :dunno:
You can use your electrics and crank you have in your 650 cases.

650 cases suck, 61x cases suck a little less theres a reason they don't make them anymore. just get 62t cases and be done. on a side note i have millions to spend on a movie release but i only want to release it on betamax or vhs format which is best?

because I would have to find 61x cases in perfect condition and then find a manifold then pay to have them ported and would they really be that much better then the ported 6m6 cases?
As far as going with the 62t cases then the price really goes up.

If a 760 is what your looking for then just go buy a complete 760 for about 700.00. Yea Yea I know the 61X timing is suppose to hit harder on bottom but, I cant see you building a 61X bottom with a 62T top for less.

a big bore 61x cylinder will hit a lot harder off the bottom then a stock 760.

Thats why I said what I did in RED.

Thanks.

Question is, will it do so on 650 cases.

You're about to spend that much money on a big bore cylinder, and you're balking at $200 for cases?

You can go cheap and stick with 650 cases. But in that case, you're pissing money in the wind by getting an expensive bb 61x cylinder.
JMHO. Ask Art.

yes you are right for around the same price. But like I said before this guys ski looks so nice it looks like it under warrenty still. So if I could use his old motor for the build I would like to do that. Also the group k big bore kit says it will outperform a stock 701 and come real close in power to a modified 701. For $880 thats not to bad.

yet your willing to spend $880 for this. good luck seems like you got your mind set. if it was me and i wanted to build a motor i'd do it right saves money in the long run.

I ws talking about when you said building a 61x with a 62T top for less. A 61x 760 top will hit a lot harder then a 62T bored to 760.

Correct, thats what I was saying.. maybe I didnt word it correctly.

Thats what I would like to build one day. I have a set of 62T cases and 61X cylinders just waiting to be sent out to have the big bore done to them.

The right way to do this is be patient and spend the money in the right spot...

62T cases/61X BB is the way to go or consult any other engine builder for their specific set up ( 4mm Stroker etc ) ! Do not bottle neck the Power with 6M6 cases.

I have a 760 Ported engine which is technically a 64X/62T top and it runs very nice and compared to a stock 701 hits hard but if you compare it to a
62T/61X BB its "not a wild thing" hahahah

Just my opinion

My experience tells me that a good cyl on a 6M6 makes more power than a stock cyl on a 62T case, even with giant carbs.
