701 running hot

Hey guys. Just thought I would post here quick to see if I could get some answers... I have 2 pissers, one off the head, one off the T from the bpipe. The one off the head gets to be burning hot enough to leave burns on my leg when I bobble the ski and try to regain my balance. Is this normal?IMG_0682.jpg

Burn marks as in you have red first degree burns left on your leg after?

Do you have one line coming off the pump or 2 separate lines tapped from the pump?

A buddy of mine had the same 701 61x motor in a Blaster and it did this as well. We never looked into why because he ended up selling the ski. Now that I see yours is a 61x configuration too I wonder if this is common for these engines...and yes it is hot enough to leave burns marks.

It's hot enough that it feels like a sun burn after a day of riding.

Are these Pissers on the Dashboard or off the Portside Hull? The Bypassed Water will normally be hot enough to scald, specially in the Summer.

They are on the dashboard facing the towards the back of the ski. I turned them so they shoot out now.

I believe it’s just one

Do you have a line coming off the back of your head? I was struggling to understand your cooling but I realize now you have an aftermarket hull and your pissers are at the front of the tray.

There is a similar conversation going on in this thread.

If you have two lines coming off your head but only one from the pump, then the water pressure in your motor is likely too low allowing water to travel through too quickly to absorb the heat or too incompletely leaving hot spots.

It would be worth the effort to put in dual cooling. It's simple if you have to through hull tubes.

If you are happy with the way the ski performs, turning the pissers, as you have done, is sufficient. Your temps may be normal but your exposure might not be. I have a superjet with stock pisser locations, so much further away, and when I make hard turns and get sprayed that water sure burns, but never leaves a mark, more time to cool.
