Blaster 701 electrical issues, need help

I have a 62t blaster and after what I think was an overcharged dead battery I decided to test the charging system. Using my multimeter which I tried on other skis an get accurate readings I checked the running and non running voltage at the battery. 12.5 not running and while the engine is running the battery jumps wildly all over from 0 ad negative numbers to 20 volts. Never sustained. I replaced the voltage regulator and ran additional grounds from the motor and ebox. Still nothing. Disconnected all elements o the battery charging system and still nothing. My guess is something wrong inside the stator but have beer experienced anything like this.
Just getting the multimeter anywhere near the engine or battery with just one lead and it starts going crazy. Thank you for any and all help and suggestions.

Multimeters will jump all over the place on that test...I had a digital battery charger showing volts that did not jump around (mine would show up to 14.3 volts while engine revving)...with the multimeter check the voltage before starting and after you run it 45 seconds, voltage should go up a bit if engine starts real quick...

I don't understand your problem here. Best to swap out stator or cdi with any electrical issues.

Does the ski not start?

Read over the FAQ section in your spare time. Every answer you need is there.

Sure you have your VOM on DC?
Do you have a "known good" battery?
Make sure ALL battery connections are tight with good cables.
I use an analog voltmeter for stuff like this. Should rest at 12.5-ish and go up to 14-ish when running.

The ski runs great but I fried a battery a bit before its time and with the multi meter not jumping around on the other skis I checked with the same unit I thought I had an issue. In currently looking for a stator and ebox but am missing them by a few hours or days. My only concern was frying something important like the Cdi or new ignition coil. Hopefully I can run across a good package deal soon but in the mean time I am goin to make some new battery cables. Thanks for the help and I hope this helps me solve my issue.
