701 crank

I am building my first Mod 701:Banane01: I would just like to no what crankshafts hold up the best. Are the SBT trued and welded cranks any good, or should i stick with an OEM. Or should I get a stroker? Do you have to run pistons with relocated pins if you go stroker, or could I use the 85.5mm flat tops I already got? I guess strokers are probably less reliable, and I realy dont want that. Here is my setup.

Its a B1 with
62t
dual 46 redtops
85.5mm flat tops
greater yamaha head
TLR freestyle ported
Limited wet pipe
13/17 concord J
I plan on running only about 175-185lbs of compression for pump gas.

Is there anything else you guys would recomend on this setup?

Thanks in advance

Bronson

1st off, most folks will advise you to stay away from SBT cranks for any sort of performance application.
Heck, their 701 crank costs what? 300 or so?
Get a HotRodz crank for under 500 instead.

^^^^True, how many hours have you had on them? I like hereing different sides, but Im with you, I hate wars.

Is $425 a good price for the Hot rods crank? I have heard in the past that OEM cranks were the best, but that was a while ago. Is the Hot rods crank anything special, more strength trued and welded, or anything?

Just want to know my options and pick the right crank the first time.

Thanks for everyones replys, It sucks being a newb.

Hey Yamasaki, you ever ride any pitbikes? I knowa couple guys in your area, ummm. P3

st. aug crew rides out........i average about 20 hours/month year round......the rest of the boys probably double what I ride....

I'd ride more but the whole work thing gets in the way..........

butti's blaster probably has 300 hours on the last rebuild from about 2 seaons ago.....and that boat got lost onoe day and ended up running DRYDOCKED on shore for at least 30 mins while john tried to swim to cuba

NO problems down here with the SBT cranks.........not to mention one of my boys runs a powersports shop and has installed a minimum of 20+ complete sbt motors in the past 2 years.......

not one failure yet...(knocking on wood)

^^^^^Damn, that is saying something! Seams like usualy when I here about them it is bad? If you guys moto hard and put mad hours they gota be decent.

hmmmm..... now im not sure what the heel to do.

not trying to sway you one way or another.........

all im telling you is what Ive leanred thru experience.....there's ALOT of sbt haters out there that have most likely never even held the product in their hands.........

so for what its worth...you got a couple of salt guys who put LOTS of hours on their ski's (which equals a few sinkings each year) who've had no probs.....

^^^^^haha cool! Yea I like to Moto hard from October-May getting ready for Vegas, in the sumer months Id rather be throwing down on the water. It just gets to damn hot!

My boy Doug who has a limited 2001 SJ took 1st in amerature 10" 50 class, and a 3rd in 12" 110 class. He whooped up on them boys! He is 6'2" on a fifty running lap times within 2 seconds of Mcgrath. I did not race this year, no $, but I had a blast rolling out cross country with my boys in a F-250. We are doing it big next year as well. This time I will be racing again.
