66E TYPE9 Exhaust System

I've wanted to put a Type 9 pipe on a 66e and no one has done it so here is the start of my latest debacle. I made an adaptor plate, drilled the holes (I have this designed in CAD but it will cost me over $650.00 for 5 pieces). The adaptor plate is not perfect, its a mockup piece. The exhaust manifold will require some filler welding to be done but thats just work. I played around with mounting the pipe and this is what I came up with for the best postition. Trust me, its scary to take a good pipe and hack it. I would like to mount the engine vertical using a WaterDawg setup. So here is my first mockup of it. I did this same thing with my twin pipes for my 800 blaster, but this is for my 927 I am building for my other blaster. Any ideas will help. I can move the gas tank back towards the engine for better weight distrabution.

I am going to make a suggestion, check on getting those parts waterjetted,no program has to be written,I have even heard of parts being made off of a fax copy of an original part.

The adaptor will allow you to use a b-pipe, but you'ld still have to do fill in welding and grinding on the manifold.

here is a piece you might be interested in. Its an aftermarket bottom case for the 66e motor. Brandon Reed makes them, you have to send a top case and he will line bore the new cast bottom case to match. You can then use oem 701 engine plate and stator and electrics to mount the 66e upright anywhere the 701 fits.

GREAT SOLUTION !!!!! saves the Hassle with all the aftermarket Adaptors...are the engine mounts considered strong enough to hold this set up or do you exchange the mounts too .??

dont go to pm i need to know as well!
tom im sorry i havnt called you back i have a terrible memory
egbrig
whats gonna support the chamber that tall?
got any extra manifold plates?
the bottom case tom has would be perfect for the conv.
i think i like it better than jeffs,my front plate is rusting

i can tell you the stock sj motor mounts will break, you have to use modified runabout motor mounts. It is unknown yet if the motor plates will hold up, you could always reinforce if you are worried. Brandon is almost done with his 66e "b-Pipe" so that the oem waterbox, gas tank and battery location can be utilized with the 66e conversion. I dont like the clearence between the bottom of the hull and engine cases with the waterdawg kit. Being able to use 61x and 62t ignitions, lightweight flywheels is a huge plus too

truefully it looks like he could almost do a plate attached under the hood sill lip with a cpl of lord mounts.

Once I get the pipe welded back together I will move the pipe mount locations. I will have several made just because I don't have access to a mill anymore and have to contract it out. It costs only $100 more to have 9 made vs. 3. I'm still looking for a local shop.

Heres is where it gets good. Imagine a 66e with sj electrics, flywheel , oem 701 mounting plates, a b-pipe, full size tank ,stock battery location and waterbox. Its coming!! Brandon Reed is making these parts if you want to contact him its breed6903@yahoo.com. Killer work Brandon!

B pipe parts

I will have the manifols done soon working out some small problems with my mold tooling. I have plenty of castings of the lower case price as of now is $500 fully machined ready to assemble. I accept paypal. Do not have an exact price on manifold yet most likely will be around $200 to $250

Looks good, how much for the exhaust manifold?

Engine Pckage

I will have complete engine packages available soon. Engine package will include a complete 927 motor with new hot rods crankshaft, custom 66e cylinders, "B pipe", Riva cast heads, carb adapter plates so that you can use a R&D style manifold and cut it in half. Prices will be around $3200.00 $4000.00.

new headpipe in the works, its 15% bigger, and yes itll clear the pvs. He's going to run a regular bpipe headpipe on that proto manifold just to see if it works, but he has no intent on selling those.
