66e carb setup - suggestions

since blowing up my Frankenstein motor I think I'm going to put my 66e in next. I'm going to finish fabbing the bedplate and make a new exhaust manifold to fit a bpipe

question is what to do for carbs. I've got the stock 66e carbs with accelerator pumps and a pair of 46's. I'd like to get the stock carbs to work so I don't have to make an adapter for the 46's yet. any advice on how to set them up on a superjet?

try using the hardware they came with. :moon:

why not just bolt up and go? the carbs are tuned to that motor, the weight is the main diff and nobody is really gonna have an idea how its gonna need to be tuned with this exhaust. so lets put it in and see where its at and tune from there. I imagine it will richen up with removing the stock FA and the b pipe?

when i was 1st tring to fit a 66e in a sj
there just wasnt enough room in the hull for the carbs to sit sidedraft
carbs will fit but no flamearrestor or air box
i do have a rd intake for 66e if your interested it will hold those 46s nicely
but again i found that in side draft form not enough room to get a/f on

I've mocked it up and noticed that as well. if I can get these carbs to work in the stock location I can make a custom fiberglass arrestor if need be.

if the motor is sittin on a angle theirs room for them to mount stock and run filters.if your mounting it upright then you have no room.im kicking around selling my upright mounting kit and run the motor on a slant.

The carbs will be sitting even lower with the engine on an angle.

You'll need to fabricate some kind of F/A box that won't suck up water.

the stock arrestors work at the slant, the suck air from above. I can't do the slant because I want to use a bpipe and the head pipe won't fit with a slanted motor.

that's a good question. I'll cad it up, I've already got the hull and motor in cad, just need to rotate it around the crank centerline and fake in the exhaust manifold.

actually with the motor on a slant in the sj the tops of the carbs sit fairly high.

you could get two mandrel bent tubes and make up a plate like the one that the stock carbs bolt to and weld to each end.that might possibly work

and one thing to watch out for with b pipe is you gotta watch out the headpipe will hit the powervalve tops if you move it in close enough to clear the hull
