SX/SXi/SXi Pro 650sx to build or not to build ?

I hurt my back last summer riding my 07 sxr. I was out of work for 6 months and sold my ski. I have been going to the gym and am in good shape. I want to start ridinr again but don't have the $ for another sxr. I just got a 88 650sx for free. it has a seized pump and doesn't run. I'm thinking if I put no more than 1,000 bucks into it then I should be able to get my money back if I sell it? I am a mechanic so the time needed to repair it I don't mind. should I rebuild it or wait until I have the scratch for a sxr? aslo where is the best place to get 650 engine parts? thanks:dunno:

For $1000 you could get a decent stock SN!
Why put $1000 into a $800 ski?
Have you ridden a 650sx before?
You may want to do that before spending the money

no I have not. only rode the sxr I had. and that was all blowsioned out. I guess I should just take the plung and get another sxr. so......... I will be parting out the 650sx soon it's already striped down to the hull. and what's up with these superjet guys are they really better than the sxr? they seem so skinny in the tray area? i'm a kawi fan but have never rode a sj

Definitely part it out and get something else. If you could get it going for a couple hundred I'd say go for it just to have something to play with. But 1000 is way too much for a 650sx

if your a bigger guy stick with an sxr....i just got a rn sj and love it.. i rode a friends sxr dry piped and it was awsome....lots of power but its huggge. i would have to say try and ride a sj and see what u like....or talk to "BudProductions" on here and view his thread. he just got an sj and rode a sxr for a while

U will never get ur cash close to back. Save up a little and get a better platform to work with. SJ RN. I have a friend that has 2 650 sx with every mod u can think and not impressive at all..im more
impressed with a 550 hull with a 650 motor i have ridden one and thought it was fun.

I weigh 150lbs though if ur in the 180 and up...stick with rn-sxr as a prime choice.
