put that 650 motor in an older js 550 hull that 650 is a great motor old reliable and in a 550 hull they are so much fun they are not race boat's but they are a blast for freestyle.

I totally agree. Those old 550 hulls were the "original" freestyle ski back in the day. The 650 was probably the biggest turd kawasaki made as far as a hull design. (IMO) If you have a built up 650 motor in a 550, you wont want to get rid of it even when you buy a SJ. Those skis are so much fun and so easy to throw around. Just ride the 650 as is, have some fun and save all your money for the SJ. Then part the thing out and throw that motor in a 550 hull and you'll have 2 bitchin skis!

I have another 650 hull so i am putting that back together and sell it. I also have a 750 sx that i will be riding now

hell if you have the 750 sx why would you want to put the money into the 650 sx anyhows?? build the 750 up and you will be fine !! many will say the 750sx isnt a good freestyle machine either but its gotta be a ton better than the 650. and there is more than one guy around here who do or have ran kawis with good results ....just my .02

I started to freestyle on a 650sx when I first started. My first competition was on a 650. I sank prolly 2 grand into it. :banghead:
I eventually got an Octane and finally got a SJ.
I guess you could say I had a thick head.
I had fun on the 650... It's still a turd though.
I wouldn't spend any cash on it, and just ride it until you get a new ski. That's just funds you can spend on mods when you get a new ski. IMO

well craig586 and i were working on his 750sx today and finnaly got it started and as soon as it started the motor reved about as high as it could and i yanked the plug wires off so it would die. My 650sx also did this a week or so ago, but i pulled the plug wires to kill it but it kept running ... wtf? does anybody know what causes this or why this would happen at all. I would hate to have it happen on the water. I would have a run away ski at WOT. does anybody know why this would happen?

You likley have an air leak. Check the cases where the coupler comes out of the case, feel around and make sure your seal is flush there and there is no fresh oil residue. Check your manifold bolts for tightness and carb to manifold bolts. Also check your "pulse" line, this is the line from your cases/ manifold to your carburetor fuel pump. Make sure there is no crack in any of your lines, etc. One other thing to check is your throttle shaft, make sure it is tight and not sloppy.

If you dont find something obvious, I would replace all of the mentioned seals anyway to be sure.

Good luck

Why would my 650sx run at full throttle with out plug wires on it? I started it up and then reved it up just a little and the the engine just started screaming. i yanked off the plug wires and it just kept going. i had to rip the fuel line off of the carb to get it to stop.

air leak is causing the ski to run lean, causing it to run hotter than normal so the plugs get hot enough to ignite the fuel without spark.
If it happens again hold the throttle WFO and hold the kill button at the same time.
