Can some one school me real quick on what i will need if i switch to 61x cases. i got 62t case and cyl. can i just drop in the crank in to 61x, together with the electrics, and starter. What will i need to make this conversion work?

i think i want to try 61x cases. well the main reason is becuase i want to try a single carb setup, and from what i read its better to use 61x cases instead of a 62t with a single setup manifold.

No man, 62t cases will always be better IMO! You must be doing the wrong mods to want to go to a 61x case and single carb? Maybe you might want to call me and find out what's wrong with the set-up you have? Chris from ATP (posted above) makes the best intake manifold for the 62T case and would still be a lot better than going backwards with your build quest for power trying old 61x cases...

The reason is not so much as for power but simplicity. Basically i got the ski with the set-up i have right now. I am currently modifying my boat for freeride more or less. I will definetly be calling you Chuck because i couldnt tune my carbs for my life and when i did get them tuned they would not work the same the following time riding. Like riding the following day in the same water and same temperature. I know you dont have to tune your carbs everytime you ride. I understand adjusting a bit, but not re-tunning completly. So i am just kind of gathering info and all. I havent gotten to the engine, since i have been working on the hull. I am planning to rip apart the engine to check all the bearings and seals, and i want to find out if my cases or cylinders are ported or not. But i definetly like the team scream set-up's. I guess i am just trying to change things that might not even be causing a problem.

I agree with chuckie. there are good single carb manifolds out there that will work as well or better than building a motor based on a 61x case.

True, I agree. But do you think the problem with tunning my carbs is because of the carb, the set-up, engine problem or is it just me doing something wrong???

On a side note ATP makes some sick products. I like them!!!

When you get a chance, write down your mods and spec's of what your running set-up is, and any info who built and ported it? (If any was done). I'll want to know everything like what reeds, intake manifold, carbs and settings, what ignition setting and CDI unit, head mods (Brand also) and/or dome sizes, what pipe, how cooling lines and pipe setting adjustments and don't forget to measure the exhaust manifold/headpipe outlet size too.
Call shop and leave a message with Radney that you called, with a phone # and best time to call you back.

all that being said...

61x cases still do make good power and are a bit more simplisitc....

but seeing as you already have T cases, I'd stick with em...Try and pick up an ATP single carb mani

if anything, build yourself a 2nd motor that is X based.....it'll be cheap, and I always sleep better knowing I have a full backup sitting on the shelf...

I currently have a working 61x motor, and was thinking of replacing the 61x case with a 62t case.

I saw this thread, and after reading through it, it seems that 61x cases are better for single carbs than 62t cases are.

If I am making a suf ski, is it worth it to switch to a 62t case? Can I swap out everything from the 61x case to the 62t case, and use the same CDI?

Or should I put my money into a bore on my current 61x cylinder block?

That is not the case. (No pun intended) See Chuckie's comments.

61X cases are cheaper to set up as single carb cases, but the T cases will be better with a single carb, provided you use a nice manifold.
