will it run? :confused:
I know the map and rev limiter will be wrong
but wouldnt a MSD enhancer fix that?
or do I need to move my 6m6 flywheel and stator over?

it'll run fine. as you know the 6m6 cdi isn't as good as the 61x/62t cdi. the 6m6 and 61x stator/flywheel are interchangable. if you put in an enhancer it'll be that much better.

tim, so all I need to upgrade to a 61x 701 setup is cases, cylinder/head, top end and intake exhaust manifold?

matt was saying the exhaust mani may work with minimal modification, or something like that?

LOL yep, all you need to upgrade to a 701 is a complete motor.

yeah, you need to replace the short block.
  • the electrics will work
  • the carb will work but it is different than the 701 even though they are both sbn 44's.
  • the 650 exhaust will bolt on but is smaller internally and will work.
  • the crank is the same
  • the bottom half of the case is the same too :)

I have a coffman sizzler chamber. t6he carb I'm running is a taper-bore 46.

so I just need to bore out the inside of the exhaust manifold?


so I can replace top case half, pistons, intake manifold? are the head bolts spacing the same? if so I could just have the head machined to a larger squish and volume?

It would probably cost less to just buy a 701 head.

you can grind out the inside of the manifold. be careful not to grind in to the water jacket or you'll need to get it welded.

yep, replace the parts you said, I'd add a cylinder to that too, working with a 6m6 cylinder is more trouble than it's worth. the case/cylinder/head bolt spacings are all the same.
