61x 701 seized, any advice?

What happened: Last summer it was sitting in a few feet of water for an hour, with no bilge running it somehow filled to the top. I took it home, stupidly tried to start it after draining all of the water(from the engine bay, not the engine). It slugged over slowly and i worked on emptying more water with it running upside down and i believe i got most of it. I went off to college for 9 months, came back home, it was seized. I've tried knocking the pistons loose with a hammer/block of wood, soaked heads in liquid wrench, tried turning flywheel. No luck, engine now sits on wood on top of jetski.

What do I do now?

Here's some pics showing the gunk and stuff...

Take it apart as much as you can.

You'll need a replacement crank, new gaskets, new wrist pin bearings, possibly a bendix, possibly pistons and a bore.

Ahh happy news. Sounds like it might be easier for me to just upgrade to a new engine now. Uggh, bye bye $$

Build a time machine... go back in time and run the piss out of that motor before leaving for college. Kidding

It seriously looks like a new crank, seals, pistons/ rings and a fresh bore will be in your future.

That go back in time stuff...lol

yup, all you had to do was get it running right away and everything would have been fine.. Your best bet would probably be an sbt motor unless you want more power... for 500$ you would be back on the water...

Uhh actually, I did have it running that night last august. The carbs got soaked with water and stopped sucking fuel into the engine. So it turned over running on starter fluid just fine. Are people assuming cranks and all that are bad because they had the idea i never got it to turn over?

But yah, that SBT engine sounds like a great deal. I might just do that! My friend told me they are great and the 1 year no-fault warranty is great.

My buddy has a 1990 550sx and I swear to god its a time machine. I'm pretty sure itll take a barrel roll on it to get me to 2001 and a backflip to get me to the 90s.

No.

I am assuming the crank is bad based on the pictures you posted and the fact that you can't get the pistons unstuck.

Some extra oil straight down the carb once you get it running never hurts either. I have found the old 2 stroke Rotax oil works wonders at emulsifying water. Time is key because you are trying to push liquid water up through the transfer ports and out through the exhaust. Heat helps turn the liquid to steam helping the cause. From the pics that engine looks like it will take some major wrenching. Before you tear it down and find everything is trashed you might want to research how somplace like sbt treats cores. Good luck.

Thanks guys. I don't know a ton about engines so I'm learning a lot taking it apart. I'll probably stop where I am because as guy above said, I shouldn't tear it up too much.

I did't know much about engines too. when my engine didn't start due to electrical problems i tore apart the ski completely, pulled everything out and now i see how simple it is made.
just take everything apart... clean it up, reassemble and try to see if it will start up.
if not just send it to SBT for a rebuild.....

You can also just buy a used engine for $500 on the net and part this one out... if you take the time to clean up some things and if there's going to be demand for your parts.

i chose to bore out my engine to 84mm. waiting for the rebuild kit from Atlantic jet sports. it was only $619, which is pretty much the same cost as the rebuilt stock SBT engine. Except in this case i get 53 extra cc's.

Make sure also your electrical system is not screwed up. in my case i got a new one from JSS.

As far as your carbs go, you can easily rebuild them. a rebuild kit is around $40.

Look at this as a blessing in disguise. now is your opportunity to fix things and make sure they keep running smoothly for next few years.

You will be wasting your time to try and get that engine running. The Crank is toast, and Ill bet the pistons are too. you might be able to reuse the cases and cylinders with a bore. Find a good used engine, or find a good crank and some new pistons and rebuild your engine.

Yea rebuild that carburetor also.

I figured if I'm gonna replace I might as well upgrade. BraaAAaap is very important to me.
