I think he was riding the older 85mm cylinder, not the new 89+ cylinder. Not sure if there are any other differences in the cylinders besides cylinder bore and pistons used? But I talked to jack, and he said it wasnt bad, but thought comparable sized p/v motors were better.
I think I can build an ada for around $1600 cheaper than a dasa or xmetal all said and done, and since im currently running a stock flywheel, and pump...I could put that 1600 towards a total loss or tbm flywheel and tbm cone or maybe mag pump, that I wouldn't be able to afford right away if I went with the p/v cylinder.
So...now whats the better option, a dasa motor, or an ada with a more "complete package" (total loss, pump...ect) right now?
The old ADA Cylender and the new 89mm cyl are TOTALLY different. I have BOTH sitting in the garage and the port sizes in the cylender and the sleaves are WAY different. And the old style was not bad if it was ported propperly BTW. But it was not much different then a stock cylender when they get to your door from ADA. Unlike the new 89mm set up.
If you want no expense spared power then a flattop from Desa or a Chuckey motor is prolly better for you. If you want REAL NICE POWER at a right now budget as well as down the road budget, I think the old SeaDoo pistons are the way to go. Plentiful and cheap and LOTS of bores ahead too.
Guess I will find out if I am happy with the BUDGET BILLET BIG BORE soon enough. If Crankworx EVER ships my crank that is! 2 mos. and counting.
